  1. Greetings. Just select all of the canvas (Ctrl + A; or Edit > Select All), then hit the Backspace key on your keyboard to fill that selection with your primary colour, which is black by default.
  2. That sounds to me like the GIF save configuration dialog, not the PNG one. Whilst GIF does save transparency, it does only in two values: 1 and 0. Basically, it is ether fully transparent or not at all. Whereas PNG can handle the full range of alpha values, therefore you can save it and it will retain the 'smoothness' of anti-aliased text. Now, as Paint.NET can't apply two colours onto text at once, it must mean you have cut the text from a white background. Yes? No? It would be best to type text of any sort on its own layer for ease of editing and application onto other backgrounds. If you didn't, it is more than likely the font is adding this shadowing of white; it's highly unlikely Paint.NET is.
  3. What image format was it? A JPEG, BMP, PNG, or one that isn't built-in like PSD?
  4. Take a looky, I think this will be right up your alley: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4196 Don't forget to search next time; the title of the above tutorial is quite an obvious phrase to use when searching for the effect you described. http://paintdotnet.forumer.com/search.php http://searchpaint.net/
  5. You can't from within the saving process, that is something you must do whilst editing the image. The best way I can think, and use myself, is Curtis' Selective Palette plugin, from his plugin pack. Reduce the colours first, then save. I hope this works out for you.
  6. Hello cking101. Go for Image menu > Resize, changing the figure in the Resolution field. Stay watchful on the unit of resolution you're using, be sure to select pixels/inch.
  7. It's also worth visiting the plugin troubleshooting thread for further help: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2023. I believe this has happened before with someone else, they solved it the same way Simon suggested. Or, you may need to unblock the DLL (steps #4 and #5). It's worth even more brushing up on the Rules (particularly #6): viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3446. I hope you can understand why I'm locking this now. Topic locked
  8. It's a shame, because only one version back it didn't have one. I wish I hadn't updated it.
  9. You have until your next visit, Wolfdreamer. Quickly, run to that Edit button!
  10. [rule=21]No need for a poll[/rule]. To the matter at hand, an update does not remove your plugins, whether via auto-updater or a fresh download. In fact, even uninstalling Paint.NET does remove them, the folder has to be manually deleted after the fact. You'd also do very well to listen to Simon's advice of creating a back-up for ease of reinstallation if needed.
  11. Hello Budde. How have you tried creating one before? You could try the Shape3D plugin for drawing it. As well, the Realistic Eyes tutorial will help if you have difficulty grasping the plugin.
  12. Without completely debunking Simon's above reply, do you mean something along the lines of this: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26659? If so, then you won't see soft selections in Paint.NET just yet, that's where Simon's response is still valid.----- Native layer masks are something to come during the v4.xx series: In the meantime, there is always the Alpha Mask plugin (plugin | tutorial) for your delight.
  13. You're right, and you won't find anyone here saying there is. Not even Ash by the looks of his reply. My mod-eyes sight no arrogance. I did have this lengthy, polite piece written out in response, but I deleted it when I reread your post: I lack effort when someone is unwilling to listen to the other side of the story, unwilling to listen to reason. For that one line of yours, I don't care what you do, less with what happens to your username. I personally don't want to see you back here unless you want to hear the reasons behind the locking of your topic.
  14. Indeed it has been removed until further notice, when a more suitable solution has been found.
  15. There's a few that claim kinship with the popular 'Photoshop style', therefore searching 'Photoshop' would be a good place to start.
  16. To help you along, you could search the Tutorials section for help. Use the Forum Search with the term 'collage', narrowed down to the Tutorials board and to return the results as topics rather than posts (cuts out a lot of reading that way). Which first you have to download as a plugin. You can find it as part of pyrochild's plugin pack, a pack that contains other immensely useful plugins.Packs are good to get your hands on .
  17. That requires the author of each topic to be descriptive with their titles. That is something you should never rely on.
  18. Hullo Waken. Do remember use Search next time (http://searchpaint.net or search.php) as this has been both answered before and recently: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25179
  19. Okay, you were online long enough to edit your title, and I know you were looking through the General Discussion & Questions section after my post, so you should be aware of what I said. If you return wanting to continue for help, do post in the Image Hospital where you can receive good-hearted advice for improving your image. And where technically you should have posted in the first place . Topic locked
  20. This is highly unavoidable. You are wanting to resize images of varying dimensions to the exact same size each, but this cannot happen without distortion because with some/all images you will be contorting the image disproportionally. If you want them all at one uniform size without distortion, one option is to resize only one distance with all - say, the width only. This will resize them to a uniform width with no distortion. Alternatively, janettsue's idea is definitely worth a shot, where you create a canvas the size you require then place atop a resized photo as I suggested above. Here, you will have the photo undistorted whilst also obtaining the exact dimensions you wish for.
  21. Um, I did. Unfortunately, edits aren't flagged as new posts, so we never knew you came back and edited your post.--- Your issue. Please allow me to recite what I understand to happen: you use the Magic Wand, you select the penguin (inside or out) to extract it/delete something/other action, yet some colour remains. Correct? This could be due to the tolerance level you have set on your Magic Wand. The higher the tolerance the less it differentiates between tones/shades of colour, therefore selecting more. The reverse is said with a lower tolerance level; lower the tolerance, the more 'precise' it is with the colour selected and surrounding pixles, therefore selecting less. Take a look at the Help File for more information: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/T ... #Tolerance and http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/MagicWand.html Perhaps you need a higher tolerance level set.
  22. Hello san_crazy. Three things I'm going to bring to your attention: 1) what picture? 2) This is better suited to the Pictorium's Image Hospital. 3) [rule=6]Rule #6[/rule]. You been here for over a month now, and no doubt seen enough topics locked for this very reason alone. You're still online, so quickly! Edit your title before someone else notices!
  23. [rule=6]Not with a topic title like that you can't[/rule]. Please use Search to find Feather. You can narrow down your search to the Plugins section for more concise results. Believe me, it'll be quicker to find than you think. Topic locked
  24. For personal use even Photoshop Elements would be overkill, especially for MySpace layouts. Stick with Paint.NET and GIMP and you can't go wrong. GIMP is the closest to Photoshop as freely possible as it includes features many associate with Photoshop, however the UI is something not to be desired. Paint.NET on the other hand has simplicity, ease of use and a cracking set of available plugins to tackle most tasks. I might sound as though I'm advertising Paint.NET because we happen to be on the Paint.NET forum, but for the purposes you described in your first post, Paint.NET seems best. As Zagna said, try both anyway, see what takes your fancy.
  25. Nope, not removed: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4577&p=97446. The download for the Firefox plugin is on the following page. It uses searchpaint.net.Note: the OpenSearchFox add-on is not currently updated for Firefox 3. Actually, I can't even find the add-on at Mozilla no more. ----- No worries, we're far from perfect .
