No, never quite got the hang of using the Alpha Mask. I simply cutout the image and feather. Perhaps I should practise using the Alpha Mask more often; might produce some even better results. Wow, that's a surprisingly good result for a feather! I'm sure the Portrait effect helped here. It also includes a very soft blurring effect (softer than gaussian blur) as part of its image manipulation.

Reinstall Paint.NET.

Ummm... not really, just try to be reasonable, OK? Mine is about 100K bytes which is probably a little excessive. Are you thinking about a 12 MB GIF animation?

I'm not offended. It is really more for photographs. I feel that Ink Sketch is one of my best plugins--maybe not the most often used, true. But, I think it definately has a place in my toolbox. cjmcguinness, NICE job with the Portrait plugin! Glad someone is getting some use out of it.

Here's what you need to do: Work on your sig at 2x the normal size. Then, Image > Resize it down to the final size when you are done. For example, if your sig is to be 500x150, start with a canvas of 1000x300.

Can you show us examples of something you've done and didn't like? Also, can you show us an example of something you liked?

Your signature image is too large. The rules of this forum set the maximum size of signature images at 500px wide and 150px tall. If you do not fix it right away, you will not be allowed to have a signature.

Yeah, that was me. Here's your tutorial: Add a new layer Draw some ovals in white (overlap them to look like thought bubbles) Feather this layer to soften the bubble edges. Adjust layer opacity for desired effect. Add a new layer. Type your text on this new layer. Done. If you were looking for the secret to the universe, sorry it wasn't more complicated than that.
