Rick Brewster
Rick:After playing a little bit more, I found that all tooltip text for zh-CHS show up as some question marks only. The help text on the status bars are correct. Regards, My guess is that the tooltips are using a font that does not support Chinese character codes. Do tooltips work in other applications correctly? I would assume they do, but just want to double check. It may be something we'll have to wait for Paint.NET v2.6 (with .NET 2.0) to fix. Rick Brewster
How will be tranlations validated? We don't really have the ability to validate translations for correctness. This is currently our primary reason for not incorporating 3rd-party language packs into the official download. Rick Brewster
Great, the first language pack for Paint.NET ! A few things to make sure of: * In Beta 5 there was a mistake where we referred to "Help -> Updates -> Check Now" instead of "File -> Updates -> Check Now", so make sure that string is up to date. * Also, Application.ProductName.WithTag in the English strings currently says "Paint.NET v2.5 Release Candidate 1". You'll want to remove the "Release Candidate 1" part since I assume you're targeting the final release. Also, did you want to translate the Credits that are listed in the Help -> About dialog box? Bob, I wouldn't worry about translating the help file yet, as it is incomplete. However, it will be as simple as making a copy of the 'en' directory, then renaming it to the locale code of your choice, and then translating the HTML files and screenshots of menus and whatnot. Paint.NET will find it correctly. %PDN%\Help\index.html is just a redirect to %PDN%\Help\en\index.html for those cases where there is no localized help available. Rick: I have updated the resource file to take care the above two items. It is zipped and can be downloaded here: http://71.111.160.110/zip/download.htm Chinese transalation of the Credits - AboutCredits.rtf can also be downloaded from the above link. Rick Brewster
I went ahead and packaged it up correctly in to this zip file: http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/files ... zh-CHS.zip It's nice and small, only 26 KB ! That should serve as a good example of how to structure these language packs. Just unzip to the Paint.NET directory. You'll know it works because "Chinese (Simplified)" will show up in the File -> Language menu, and when you choose that and restart Paint.NET then the Help -> About dialog will have translated credits. Pretty cool. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Pc dokter
Maybe it 's better to make a installer for each language pack. So the files will be copied to the right directory. In that case you don 't need to unzip, copy and paste the files.
Rick Brewster
Optimally I'd have all the language packs built in to the official installer. Unfortunately we don't really have a way to validate each language pack for correctness (or anything else). I'm still looking in to what can be done here. Rick Brewster
myy001, Looks good. I'll have to collect all of these packs together soon. I've found a bug in Paint.NET: If you do File->New, the first layer of an image is "Background" localized into the language you have chosen. However, if you use File->Open (or Open Recent) to load a non-PDN image, the first layer is "Background", always in English. I'll see if I can find a low-risk fix for v2.5, but it might have to be a bug that gets pushed to v2.6. I've someone likes to use it the don't have to rename it and can just kopy and choose the french language. http://beryts.tollfreepage.com/ Quote Official Frisian translater of Opera, Maxthon, Avant, 7-zip http://my.opera.com/ytsmabeer

Rick Brewster
Ok, things should be a little more organized now. I moved this post into its own forum, and there is another post where I've organized the language packs so far. If I missed your language pack, it wasn't on purpose, so just remind me about it Roby811, feel free to e-mail me a ZIP file at paint.net@hotmail.com Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
