Looking for airbrush

Recommended Posts

I stumbled upon an older forum while googling for an airbrush feature for Paint net.

http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8928-air-brush-and-spray-paint-effects/

granted it is old but I still am interested and want to know if this airbrush plugin from usedHonda is available and if so

where?

Will the Paint net 4 would have this airbrush feature incorporated?

Thanks  :)

Hi. I'm sure the link will be fixed shortly. :)

But, just in case it is overlooked, if you want custom brushes here is a link to CustomBrushesMini for you : http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=27937

You can also find brushes contributed by other paint.net users here : http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8578-share-your-custom-paintnet-brushes/

There is a post about where to obtain an airbrush for paint net.

For an airbrush:

1. Go to the plugin section and download Sabrown100's Custom Brush plugin. (It's stickied)
2. Find the "Share Your Custom Brushes here" and look for usedHONDA's post on the first page. After running the Brush plugin once, download usedHONDA's brush and extract it to My Documents\Paint.NET User Files\Custom Brushes. Restart Paint.NET, run the plugin, and on the left pane, there should be an airbrush. Enjoi.

I am trying to find this airbrush mentioned and I think it may have been taken down. At any rate, I am still interested in knowing where it can be found for use.

Here: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/8578-share-your-custom-paintnet-brushes/?p=134983

The thread got renamed sometime in the past.

Incidentally, you'll probably get better search results from http://searchpaint.net than from the native forum search.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

You can also try brushes from brusheezy, just search for different brush types and see if anything appeals to you.

See here : http://www.brusheezy.com/search/spray

If you like brushes from brusheezy, you will want a program to convert the files into PNG.

For abr files I personally use abrmate http://www.texturemate.com/abrMate

For psd files, I use a paint.net plugin. This plugin opens psd layers in paint.net. The Plugin :  http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18128-photoshop-psd-file-plugin-newest-version-240/

I can then re-save the file as a PDN file and use the layer saver plugin, or manually re-save each layer as a png.

Layer Saver only works with Paint.NET 3.5.11. The plugin is found here :  http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/9704-layer-saver-october-21-2008/

Ya think? I know that! I was just using that as an example to be more lucid as to what I was looking for.

After reading following post here, I became interested

When you scroll down (link above), you will notice that some one else was looking for the same thing which subsequently developed into futher dialog

which reveled a name (UsedHonda) that had developed such a thig and where one could get this.

At this point, it looks like either no such thing exists or if it did, it was pulled as it was an old post "2008"

Yes @Butch - I noticed that the Used Honda brush was, in fact, a kind of spatter brush which, incidently, works great at texturing the skin.

There is no airbrush in Paint.NET but, you can fake it - see this tutorial by Withers.

Also, you could download these air brushes here and you could also make your own brush as well, save it in CMB and you are on your way.

Good Luck ;) .

I feel there might be some misunderstandings here. So I just want to clarify a few things. Please bear with me as I try to understand what you are asking for. :)

I'm assuming you realize those steps are talking about a custom brush plugin and custom brushes. (Unfortunately we don't have any plugins by a Sabrown100, not according to the plugin index anyways.) However, we still do have a custom brush plugin, the one by Simon Brown (not Sabrown). And it is Simon Brown's plugin to which we have already pointed you towards.
No misunderstandings here? That's good. :)

UsedHONDA did not develop an Air Brush, but what he did do was he made a custom brush that has an air brush pattern (spray pattern). The current custom brush plugin that can use this brush is CustomBrushesMini, By Simon Brown.

Also, David.atwell has given you a direct link to usedHONDA's post, where you can get that spray patterned brush. The only issue which might be here, is I'm not sure if the "how to install" is still accurate. (my brushes go in a personal folder on an external hard drive, so I don't follow standard instructions to know if they are up to date.)

If you haven't already, try CustomBrushesMini and the brush with a spray pattern. Here is a link to "How to Use Custom Brushes" : http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18959-how-to-use-custombrushesmini-v19/
Note: that tutorial suggests abrviewer for files that are not png, but the most recent abrviewer didn't work for me. So I use abrMate. http://www.texturemate.com/abrMate

And finally,
In the end of the thread you are referencing to, the OP did not succeed in getting what they were looking for. They appreciated the suggestions, but the suggestions weren't what they needed.

Thanks Frozen, but that is not quite what I was looking for. Actually, what ncfan posted (thank you very much) is closer to a "spray paint can", but unfortunately is not interactive enough for my needs.

An airbrush is similar to a "spray paint can" but with a sizable brush, variable spray density and a variable transparency. You use an eyedropper to absorb the surrounding color(s) and "speckle" it over an area so that "blemishes" are removed. It must be interactive with the existing image to be effective.

Now unlike Pepperami, the custom brushes might be fine for you, especially since the current custom brushes plugin is an updated plugin. Or, if you are looking for a certain effect to apply to an image, perhaps there is a different way of doing it. For example, in Pepperami's case to remove blemishes, there are lots of other ways to remove blemishes in paint.net.

I hope their dead end won't be your dead end. Good luck and have fun! :)
