timber_ridge Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I keep gettting this error when trying to download 5.0.13. Anyway to fix this? I keep deleting the files then trying to redownload. Quote
Tactilis Posted April 22 Posted April 22 @timber_ridge Please do this: 1. Reboot your PC to ensure that any previous installation process is terminated. 2. Use this Microsoft tool to fully remove the previous broken installation https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d 3. Now reinstall paint.net 5.0.13 Quote
timber_ridge Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Doesnt seem to work. These are all under the install issues: Then all the uninstall issues: Quote
BDP Posted April 23 Posted April 23 You could try this uninstaller, as well https://geekuninstaller.com/download?version=1.5.2.165 Brian Quote
Pixey Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Also this one called Rivo that should work too: https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo-uninstaller-free-download/ Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.
Rick Brewster Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Should just need a reboot, not a forced uninstall. "Another installation is already in progress" can just mean something as simple as Windows Update doing some stuff in the background. timber_ridge Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 I've tried restarting my computer multiple times. I'm fully up to date on my Windows 11. Id my tech savvy buddy take a look and his solutions didn't work either. I've tried force uninstalling with the Windows launcher thing and the Rivo but it doesn't even recognize PDN as an application on my computer. Really a shame since my last computer was this is EXACT same computer I bought from Walmart. It donwloaded and ran PDN just fine. The PC had other issues so I returned it to Walmart and bought the exact same one from Costco. Hasn't had any issues besides trying to download PDN. Quote

What virus ware are you using on your computer? Hope it's not Norton! timber_ridge Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 It was Norton haha. I removed it from my PC a few days ago and tried tried installing PDN after doing basically all that was said here. Still no luck. Do I need to download a new virusware? Quote
Pixey Posted April 24 Posted April 24 You can rely on Windows Defender which is already on your computer. timber_ridge Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 So I should just able to hop in the Registry Editor and remove all these files of PDN? Quote
Pixey Posted April 24 Posted April 24 It's worth the try - but let's see what @Rick Brewster or another Admin/Mod thinks first. It's odd that the other tool didn't pick up anything 🙄 Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.

timber_ridge Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 How do we go about this then? Should I just return my computer? Im not able to find a solution anywhere. Quote
Ego Eram Reputo Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Did you try the Revo Uninstaller? It is usually quite successful at removing broken installations. He said he tried that already, with no joy. 13 hours ago, timber_ridge said: How do we go about this then? Should I just return my computer? Im not able to find a solution anywhere To be honest, this is a mystery. Can you take your computer to a help center somewhere? I know you said a pal had helped you already, but a second opinion might be a good idea. Also, you could also try this: Press the Windows key + S simultaneously. Type “disk cleanup” and press Enter. Click Run as administrator. If prompted, select the drive you want to search for temp files to clean. Click OK. Review the description for each file type and select or deselect them as needed. Click OK. Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.

As @Rick Brewster has suggested, it is likely that it is not a previous paint.net installation that is in progress. It is some other installation that is 'stuck'. If you Google search for the error message "Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install" then you'll find several possibilities for investigation. Quote

I said it could be as simple as a Windows Update being installed. "Another installation is in progress" couldn't refer to PDN in this case. But, in any event, Windows isn't lying. Another installation ... of something ... is in progress. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html

Solution timber_ridge Posted May 4 Author Solution Posted May 4 Finally got it figured out. Went into a windows reinstallation and it let me successfully download PDN! Thank you everyone for the help! Quote
