Thanks guys :)

did a reworking of the blue planet as though it was being "scanned" on a computer/telescope future thingy:

That's quite good- do you mind sharing the basis for how you did that? Maybe make a tutorial for the basics...

"I thought that you said we were all quite mad?"
"Why yes, my very lovely dear, but not quite as mad as the Hatter."

This picture is a total of 8 hours and 47 mins of work.

Its a combination of Paint.net and Photoshop (about 90% paint.net and 10% photoshop.) I call it forest monster:

ForestMonster3.jpg

I am quite pleased with the results but a bit annoyed i had to resort to Photoshop.

I am going to aim to go back through the layers and remove the bits i did in photoshop and try to replecate them in PDN. The main reason for the this picture was for an idea i had. It was made to see if i could achieve this idea. Now that I have I am aiming to achieve it 100% PDN.

The only stock images used were 3 forest images for the back ground.

Do you have a tablet?

That monster looks amazing. Perfectly matches the background, I love the glooming eyes.

It's just so awesome, I love it! It's a drawing of superb quality.

I could go on and on and on with this...

:trophy:

Thanks :D

I do have a tablet! But it wasnt used much in the creation of the forest monster. The forest monster was actually the manipulation of hundreds of pictures of tree roots! The reason it took nearly half a day to complete was because I had to cut out and manipulate those tree roots! " take a little bit of tree root from here, a litte bit from there" type of thing! Painful I know! but it was worth it.

Then what i did was draw the basic shap of the creature and overlaid the tree roots in various sizes and shapes around the outline. The face was the hardest bit! The face itself is a mixture of three stock photo's - One from a gorrial, one from a lion and one from a picture of me pulling a roaring face :D

Then I manipulated the three face pictures and overlaid them onto the monster. The horns were then added ( more tree roots ;)).

after that I overlaid a green layer follwed by a dark green/transparent gradient to which I then applied a black transparent gradient over the entire picture.

Then all it took was detailing: Shadows and highlighting :)

I actualy have three seprate pictures of the monster through the various stages of highlighting. I will post them later on once they are uploaded so you can see the ammount of detail that went into the picture! The highlighting and shadowing for the facial and neck details were the only parts that required the use of a tablet.

This is where I used photoshop - for the presure sensitivity! thats the only thing that I needed photoshop for :)

The background is two pictures of forests overlaid with each other. Then I created the "light rays" by creating a white line where I wanted the light rays adn applying a gaussian blur. This made it look like a dim lit forest that had more depth.

I am still working on the monster!!!!

It's a lovely monster.

Could you explain more specifically what aspects of the project required PhotoShop?

Thanks :)

I just explained it in the above post, but i will quote it here again:

"The highlighting and shadowing for the facial and neck details were the only parts that required the use of a tablet.

Fascinating work! Wow! I am amazed at the quality of your spacescapes and all the other images. Very beautiful and well-structured. :star::star:

Thank you :)
