How do you build this from scratch? Full disclosure, I'm not much of a shape drawer. How is the shading of the blades done? It seems they selected the white portion around the blades and did a Gaussian Blur; maybe.. Is there any way to change the color of this to a custom color leaving the Gaussian blur in tact?

Recolor Gray did it. I could not get the motion to work out like the original, so I just edited the 25 frames of the original.

You may consider paying a look at the Make a Jet Turbine tutorial if you're interested in fans. Of course the turbine fan in the tutorial looks different from what you have above, but I think it's worth considering

There is a nice golden fan in that thread that looks like it's slowly rotating. I tried making it into a rotating gif, but it didn't work. It's all glitchy just like my other failed attempts mentioned earlier.

Hi @tome10   My thought on your 'failed' animation attempt is that you probably did not cut out the fan perfectly.

 

If you're off-center by 1 pixel, you'll get that 'glitchy' look.  Why don't you make the jet turbine from Welshy's tutorial? That way you'll have perfectly centered blades.  ?

I'll get to it, I saw that fan and had to try animating it. It's an ADD thing I guess. ?
