  1. dont forget the mirror plugins, in this case however i think the layer flip is the best
  2. there are a couple of ways- i would think the simplest would be to create 3 layers, a background layer, the picture layer, and the text layer- make the background layer whatever colour you need, on your picture layer double click the layer in the layer window and use the opacity slider to make the picture semi-transparent, this will allow a solid background to appear thru the picture, then your text on the top layer and your done
  3. perspective SHOULD appear in the distort list, it does on mine right between paneling and pixelate(42 distorts on mine) assuming that you extracted it to the right place, and non of the other parts of that plugin would show up if you didnt, then it would have to be a glitch, you might try re-downloading and extracting the plugin--
  4. sweet lord, such amazing work the gold piping on #1 is so elegant, and the 3-d work on #4 is exceptional, i could go on and on about each entry, gonna be hard to vote for my favorite, gotta figure out which one that is
  5. ahhh, another brain i can pick welcome, i look forward to seeing your work . it blows the mind, doesn't it?hell just the program is unbelievable(thanks rick) and then the plugins, and the tutorials, and, and, and, these people cant be thanked enough.
  6. if you already have the picture with the triangle, but the wrong price, you could use rectangle select to isolate the numbers, then bucket fill them to get rid of them, run AA's assistant to get rid od any whitespots, then i would open a new layer, add the new price, then use a selection tool, and the move selected pixel tool to position it if you just have the basic pictures.. you create a base "mask", a simple border with the triangle, leave the center transparent open the pic you need to update, add a layer, import the mask, then add the new price neither system is very fast, someone else might have a much better idea
  7. looks fairly straight forward-- i would start with the interior of the design, make the left half using the line/curves tool and the elipse tool, once i had that half done i would either use the mirror plugin, or simply duplicate the layer, flip it horizontally t=and use the move selected pixel tool to line it up,then merge back down- the rest is just two circles , easily made with the elipse too and the text- once your finished, AA's assistant will remove any jaggedness
  8. couple of tuts you might check out http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18099-glossy-button-with-images/page__view__findpost__p__309877__hl__button__fromsearch__1 http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/14625-shiny-button/page__view__findpost__p__242658__hl__button__fromsearch__1 the second on especially
  9. shape 3d does have a cylinder setting with "ball" ends but you wont be able to get that blue outline very easily, it will take several layers and trial and error
  10. the youtube tut is labled September 26, 2009
  11. there are several tutorials that can head you in the right direction, mostly dealing with reflections on glasslike objects but.. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/19969-making-a-jewel/ http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/15402-how-to-make-a-glassy-vase/ there are others- anything dealing with orbs, jewels, marbles etc it usually unvolve the elipse selection tool and a white/transparent gradient, with lots of AA, and bluring
  12. i assume you are usingthe plugin for PDN to make your animated gif(which i have never used), and this may be more work than you want to tackle- there is a free program call Unfreez that is purely for making them, and all you have to do is uncheck the box for Loop animation. However, it would mean saving each frame as a seperate gif image and then drag and drop them(in order) into the unfreez box- its simple to use, but resaving all those files and keeping them in order can be a hassle http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/
  13. when you select the line tool , you get a set of options across the top, like when you select magic wand- you can set tollerance, and global and such, its in the same place- right above your workwindow. you can select how your lines end- square, rounded, etc and what kind of line- solid, dashes, etc
  14. hey there and welcome trying to acheive one specific effect you found on a picture can be very difficult, however, i think, rather than that EXACT effect, what you want is to try to give your pictures a greater "depth" yes? and therefore may be open to different types of effects, and that means you just want a jumping off point from where you can start from and find your own way- I hope so, its realy fun to experiment, especially with your own photos. anyway i worked up three quick examples that might help you get started first is the orriginal jpg image i pulled off of google next up- i duplicated the image twice, and on the top layer i used the move selected pixel tool to move the entire image one pixel to the right(by hiting the right arrow key once) then set that layer to overlay, next i moved the middle layer one pixel to the left and set to overlay then merged middle layer down then merged again- then i started over- duplicated the image, on the top layer i added grain, from the noise effect, then set that layer to overlay and played with the opacity of the layer, merged down and- and last, starting over once again, i duplicated the layer, chyanged to a sepia with sepia2, then used displacement distortion with a setting of 1 on x and -1 on y, set to overlay and again played with the opacity before merging same picture with three different "feels", i hope this helps get you started
  15. for a quality picture you can share- use the PNG format- its lossless- from what the more knowledgable gurus here have said JPEG format throws away the detail that it doesnt think the human eye can see, resulting in poorer picture quality
  16. um.. besides wondering what a page curl has to do with flipping a slected section.seems that Paint.net has a page curl plugin- by madjik http://jcljay.free.fr/pdn/PageCurl.zip- so why need a tutorial?
  17. thanks guys, it started out as a headpeice for an anime a friend was doing, but she went with something more modern/techno, anyway....
  18. to add to what they have said- if you MUST have a white background, leave the background layer white and do all work on added layers
  19. sarkuts right, once you have an area selected, wether its with rectangle select or elipse, or the magic wand hitting delete, or finding the "cut" command will totally erase that part of the image-'cut' can be found under the Edit tab- we just recently covered transparency issues on a different thread - some of the other, more knowledgable people on this forum chimed in here-> http://forums.getpai...t-transparency/ making images with transparent parts is nothing new to PDN, but while im sure there are some people here who do movie editing, Paint.net isnt a movie editing software, so youll have to shift thru the rest of us to find them, or explain what you need realy well, cheers
  20. am i understanding you right, you want this "mask" to create an effect in this movie editing program? something that you could apply to the animation of the movie you are editing and get the effects of it on every frame automaticly?
  21. only thing i could think of is if you have a part selected OR if your working on the wrong layer accidentaly- if its not one of those then you could try reloading PDN to try to get rid of a glitch- fade edge is working fine here, btw
  22. if you just want to know the length of the diagonal of a rectangle add the length of the longer side with half the length of the shorter side, providing the it is made of right angles this will give you the diagonal
