  1. Yes. In the top menu. Adjustments > Black and White Copy and paste to another program should work. To copy: Ctrl A Ctrl C
  2. Click the down-arrow to the right of your Username. (At the top right of the page.) My Profile > Edit my Profile > Change Signature. You'll need to upload the image file to a hosting site, like this: http://imageshack.us/ Then paste the Direct Link URL in the Edit Signature box. Drag your mouse across what you've just pasted, to highlight it. Then click on the icon that looks like a tiny blue-skied landscape with a green cross on it.
  3. You say "Convoluted" like it's a bad thing. jk I didn't get a good result with Magic Wand when I tried it. Maybe I didn't try hard enough.
  4. Another thing that you could try is: Use the Color Picker tool in the center of one of the wide topo lines. This sets the Primary Color to the topo line color. Use the Grim Color Reaper plugin to turn the topo lines transparent. Leave What Color? set to Primary Color. Adjust the sliders for the best result. http://a.imageshack.us/img687/61/topobcr01z.png Use the Silhouette Plus plugin to turn the pixels black. http://a.imageshack.us/img689/2479/topobcr02z.png Use the black layer as an Alpha Mask applied to the original map image. http://a.imageshack.us/img411/1596/topobcr03z.png
  5. We look at an image and can clearly see what we consider object and background. To the image editing software it is all pixels. It has no way of knowing what we consider background or not-background. ====================================================================== If you can post a link to the actual image that you are working on, we may (or might not) be able to offer some better suggestions.
  6. I don't know of an instruction manual other than the online Help documentation. http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/index.html Cut and paste is possible. What are the specifics of the difficulty?
  7. I don't remember everything. The bottom layer is pieces copy/pasted from the sun and planet in the sig. Next, Inside/Out plugin effect applied. Duplicated and Frosted Glass, duplicated Radial blurred. The right half copy/pasted into new layers, and rotated 15 degrees counter-clockwise. (To point more towards the planet.) Some stars added. Here's the .pdn file to look over, if you want to. MetalMoon_pdn
  8. I'll pass on an idea for AAing the interior jaggies. This may be worthwhile, even though it is less than perfect. The AA effect diminishes the closer to the center point. The work-around is to: Run Shaped Gradient on a new layer. Zoom blur. The Zoom blur will tend to draw in alpha at the inner edges, so the next step is to make all pixels in the selection fully opaque. =============================================== This example uses Shaped Gradient. Haven't tried it yet w/ Trail 3d. You can toggle the top layer visibility to see the AA effect. ShapedGradientDeJaggy01zip
  9. Outline using several instances of the Line/Curve tool. The Line/Curve tool line has adjusting nubs for shaping the line before it is finalized.

  12. Yes. Another way to bring images in is with Layers > Import From File... . No. Not as described here. You can make a selection around the text image, copy it and paste it into another program as an image. You can paste in image of words from another image file. From a text file open in a word-processor program, highlight and copy. It will paste into Paint.NET as text that is temporarily editable, as text, if Paint.NET has the Text tool active with a blinking cursor. Otherwise it will paste into Paint.NET as an image of the text.
  13. Create your metal moon on a larger canvas and resize down as a last step before adding it to the sig. Have it pick up and reflect the light sources around it - sun, planet, stars. http://a.imageshack.us/img825/7706/metalmoonsig03.png
  14. Cut-out and save what you want to keep. Then import it as a layer above the background you want for it. Layers > Import from File...
  15. Cut-out and save what you want to keep. http://www.isimonbrown.co.uk/cutting-out-images/ Then import it as a layer above the background you want for it. Layers > Import from File...
  16. The same general process should work on this one. Paste into a new layer, Blend mode multiply, resize, re-position, reduce opacity. Logo_zip
  17. This is the same image as the first link in a previous post today. http://a.imageshack.us/img688/9666/logowatermark01.png Step two is important for avoiding the problem you have run into.
  18. You could try rotating by selection with Quality switched from Smooth to Pixelated.
  19. It sounds like you have the wrong layer active. Be sure the logo layer is highlighted in the Layers window before opening Layer Properties to adjust the opacity. You can do that. Or you can simply open Paint.NET, then use Layers > Import from File to bring the image in.
  20. These show some steps. Any questions, let me know. http://a.imageshack.us/img688/9666/logowatermark01.png http://a.imageshack.us/img688/3477/logowatermark02.png http://a.imageshack.us/img688/6073/logowatermark03.png http://a.imageshack.us/img688/3105/logowatermark04.png
  21. I don't know whether the program folder being in the x86 folder on a 64-bit system is a problem. The Paint.NET program files should be removed from the Effects folder. http://a.imageshack.us/img688/1421/pluginst01.png
  22. Paint.NET is raster only. This may be helpful: http://www.pencil-animation.org/
  23. Nice. Thanks for the tutorial. http://a.imageshack.us/img835/6803/presidentsillusion01.png
