  3. Congratulations to our winners! Thanks to all who entered and all who voted. I'm hoping to get some more theme ideas from our winning entrants in the next few days. In any event AOTW #14 should be up and running soon.

  6. Some suggestions. If you want to use bracketed exposures, having the pictures be otherwise identical is important. This means no hand-held shots, use a tripod so that the camera angle and position don't change. =============================== Also, in editing, it is better to work with high resolution images and resize down as a last step if needed. The images that you have posted are relatively tiny. If images are sent as attachments by email, they may be resized down to preserve bandwidth. It is better to place a folder of full-resolution images in a zipfile and upload it to a file hosting site. The download URL provided by the file host can then be emailed. ================================= Here is a software targeted at this type of thing: http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/index.html
  7. The entry outlined in red below is inaccurate on both my Vista and XP PDN installations. http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/6373/kmccurrent.png Could be changed to look like this: http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/3935/kmcrevised.png http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/KeyboardMouseCommands.html
  8. Another option - Use the Pan function of: Layers > Rotate / Zoom Checkmark the Preserve background box.
  9. Hello, sarkut!

  10. Mine has a .dll extension. Maybe you got a corrupted download.
  11. Using the image as an Alpha Mask on itself will do the job. Download the Alpha Mask Import plugin here: Alpha Mask Download the zip to your Desktop or Downloads folder. Open the zip by left-clicking, then copy/paste into the Paint.NET/Effects folder. Best to do this with Paint.NET closed. ======================================= You can vary the gray in the tile by making a selection around it, then using Brightness / Contrast. Thanks, csm725. pyrochild, I was wondering about the lack of a companion Save button. Thanks for explaining. Nice 3D shiny, Heat Stroke. j.d., you're welcome! Hope that you find this useful.
  13. If you copy/paste something feathered directly onto the background, the transparency will be pasted also. The trick is to paste into a new layer above the background. That way the transparency of the feathered edge doesn't affect the background pixels.
  14. Based on the icons shown with the plugin DLLs it is clear that the default .dll file association on your system is now Paint.NET. This is not normal. If your OS is Vista, you may want to restore the correct .dll file association as outlined in this tutorial: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/233243-default-file-type-associations-restore.html
  15. With Paint.NET closed, remove all items within the red outlines. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9657/removethese01.png
  16. Close, then re-open Paint.NET. ====================== Look here: Utilities > View Plugin Load Errors If any error reports are present, pls. post them. ====================== Also, open your Paint.NET Effects folder, and make a full screenshot. It should show the contents of the folder and the full folder path in the address field. Post the Direct Link, or thumbnail. http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/ http://imageshack.us/
  17. Convert a copy of your starting image to black-and-white. Adjustments > Black and White Apply Gaussian Blur to soften it. Adjustments > Posterize Linked setting of 4. Image > Resize Copy/paste into a new layer of an open file of the original picture. Duplicate the pasted layer 3 times. Press Esc, then use the Pan function of Layers > Rotate / Zoom on 3 of the layers to position the smaller images in all 4 corners. On 3 of the layers move the Hue slider to change the colors. Adjustments > Hue / Saturation Have the full-size normal picture as top layer. Press F4 and move the Opacity slider to the left to make it transparent. 20. I use Vista, which does show DPI in the Details tab of Properties. Opened a JPEG, set it to 300 DPI, saved as TIFF. It retained the 300 DPI setting when re-opened. Don't know why yours doesn't.
  21. So far as I know, you have to go to the file in its folder. Right-click > Properties
  22. You can resize the canvas to be wide enough to see both pictures side-by-side. Have one picture on the left of a layer, the other picture on the right of a different layer. Image > Canvas Size...

With Trail plugin. Regarding Gradient Mapping Hidden Content: Copy/paste the XML into this folder. "C:\Users\<"Username">\Documents\Paint.NET User Files\Effect Presets\Gradient Mapping" Then choose it from the top dropdown menu. The Load button doesn't seem to work for loading the XML file. (Maybe it has a different purpose.) Sarkut\'s Yellow Gold.zip
  24. For vertical or horizontal lines, go mouse-button down, and use the arrow keys on the keyboard.
  25. There may be a better "auto color" plugin, perhaps another forum member will know. Is the color correction needed much the same in all of the images? If that is the case, then you could make a custom correction using Levels and Brightness / Contrast. It could be run through ScriptLab and saved as an.sls file for continued re-use.
