  1. I usually have it open for three days. I'll leave it open for four and take a look at how the votes go. If it looks like I'm getting some votes, I'll leave it open. I mean , I could extend it another day if you guys think there will be more votes come in.
  2. I love the red bean and the pinto bean. Yum !

  6. The period for entries has ended. Thanks to everyone who entered. Poll will be up later tonight.
  7. Last few hours before the close of the entry period ! If you are working on something to enter let me know !
  8. He's been nominated for best supporting character.
  9. I agree. Maybe I'm stupid, OK yes I must be stupid because I can't figure out how to vote on this comp. All other comps use a poll. Not to tell you how to run your comp, but it is somewhat confusing as to how to vote. With that said, very impressive entries. I cannot even fathom how you guys do this! I consider myself as not being too bad at Paint.net, but I could not do this. I'm just blown away with how you guys can not only work on such a small image, but to get so much detail using only the pencil tool. Wow !
  10. Ah, that would explain why nobody likes me. I actually thought your piece was better than mine. I had a similar idea to do something like what you did, but you did your's so well I had to take an alternate path. I really liked what you did on your entry. The way you blended the dragon's head onto the chess piece was excellent. Could you show me how you did that? It looked like it was made that way. Brilliant, really!
  11. What we have been doing is to create a texture based on the theme and then putting it into a picture. You could look at the last two comps discussions and see how it has evolved. BTW, welcome back, we missed you.
  12. Ok ok ! You win ! I can't get more yellow than that !
  13. Me by default. Mine had more yellow in it. That was one of the hidden rules. It was in the fine print at the bottom of page 99.7.
  14. My entry. No stocks, or renders. 100% Paint.net Prehistoric Flight http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/pp41/PossumRoadkill/Possum%20Art/PrehistoricFlight.png
  15. I had my eye on fire too, but I hurt my eye on Thursday so I'm having a little trouble getting anything done. Switched to water, but the "water buffalo" isn't working out like I saw it in my head. Don't really know where to go from here.....I guess there's no place to go but up !
  16. Thanks Simon. Beautiful images ! It will be hard to decide which to use. This should be a lot of fun !
  17. Oh OK, cool. I didn't expect that. Thanks ! And thanks to everyone who voted for me. So we have to sign up for this stock photo service? Will they bug me like Facebook does and fill up my inbox with worthless notifications?
  18. Yes, clipart should be viewed in the same manner as stock photos or renders. You can use one clipart and you will need to post a link to it.
  19. Cool idea Simon, but what happened to the last one? The poll would not let you see the vote count.
  20. Round three is up and running. This is going to be a little more difficult, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask on here or by sending me a PM. Since there is an extended entry period, take your time to plan your image well. Good luck everyone and let's have some fun with this one.
  21. Abstract of the Week Competition # 3 POLL IS UP ! VOTE NOW !Voting extended until Monday night ! THEME IS: "Elementals" ! Make an abstract that looks like it was made from an element (see description below for more details). This is the first competition dedicated to Abstract Art created in Paint.Net. The winner of AOTW Leonte has chosen a great theme. This one will be a little more complex and challenging so this comp entry period will be 10 days in length, and could be extended if enough people request an extension. So here are the rules.... Theme is "elementals", making an animal from one of the following physical elements; Fire (burning solid, liquid, or gas) Water (ice, liquid, or water vapor) Earth (soil, sand, stone, metal (refined earth) or crystallized minerals in any natural state) Wind (if you do this, you're a braver artist than I ) Electricity (as in nature - lightning) Light (as in the absence of darkness) You must make an animal (humanoid forms included) from one of the above listed elements. The animal must be something recognizable, but obviously not necessarily real. You may also use combinations of animals as in the Centaur (half man, half horse), or even a werewolf (half man, half wolf). An example might be a dragon made from fire, or a fish made from ice or an pixie made from light (think Tinkerbell). This should test your imagination to the limits. You may use stock images as your starting element or texture, but not for the entire creature. To give you a specific example, you can use a stock image of water, cut out parts of the water, and use it to assemble a new creature. Much like I did in this image of a hummingbird made from water. http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/pp41/PossumRoadkill/Possum%20Art/FromWaterComesLife2.png There are other examples in my gallery.... All submissions must be entered as a thumbnail link to the full size image. No images previously submitted will be allowed. This thread is for DISCUSSION only ! If you want to ENTER this comp, please go to the discussion thread HERE The VOTING period for this competition run through Sunday Monday evening (May 17th, 2010) at 7:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Savings Time. All VOTES submitted up to that time will be accepted.
