Old SOTW discussion thread *depricated*
Andrew D replied to jake2k's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Hmm. Yeah, I have it... And it's marked as read. I must have glanced at it when I was in the middle of something else, because I don't remember reading it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Sorry about that. I'll take a look at it this evening. I'm leaving town in just a bit to spend Thanksgiving with the family. I'll just e-mail you the thing which I wanted to give you, meaning there won't be a huge send things over thing. -

Great idea, but it means a lot of mundane work! Not really. If they don't show pictures it usually means it's a rubbish tut -

Finally you've been on BTW, did you recieve the PM I sent you? -
Then you aren't looking hard enough Off Topic, but to be fair, it's only just over 2 years (2005-10-27 -> 2007-11-19) And you can't really make statements of entitlement like that, it's not like you paid for it Good point...... Anyways, I've had a little go at trying to get it done....got pretty much nowhere......mainly because I have no idea how to create the forms used in it.....even though I have PaintDotNet.System and all the other .dll's as refrences.

At first glance, 2008 is just slightly prettier. Dig a little deeper, and you'll find gobs of new features and enhancements to old ones. Of course, I still recommend fullscale Visual Studio over the express editions any day, unless you're writing an XNA game. I'll check the change log......they better have made good use of those 3 years...... They don't have a change log >_>

lol, I don't know (yet), it's some kind of conditional color tint with random/noisy things... I've tested it with CodeLab, but then I have to change manually the parameters... I even don't know how to call it... @Asmageddon Prince: could you give some more details... Well, the UI is ginarmous to say the least, and you can't really create a form easily from it. BTW, as far as I can see, VS C# Express 2005 and 2008 are EXACTLY the same.

Try Soften Portrait.

How did you become good at PDN
Andrew D replied to georgiabrat1978's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Heh. BTW, BoltBait may want to look away at this.... Use Polar Inversion in different ways. As in, do a gradient and use it. Use different alpha values, use transparent areas, use it with other effecrts etc. Keep on doing that until you have something which resembles something as good as cmjguinesses Polar Inversion works, or mabye even mine (Yes, I know the shameful self advertising has went through the roof, but how many people can use Polar Inversion well? -
Drop Shadow Plug-in Missing?
Andrew D replied to Andrew D's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Ah that's it (first one) Now, I'm going to kill the person who said it wasn't there, stupid NM users, can't browse a forum to save their lives  -
Yeah, I think we lost more than the noise remover (can't remember the name or spell it right), I think we've also lost the Drop Shadow plug-in....

I forgot to menton, the rep system has it's downsides. Like people constantly de-repping you, something I'm used to from the NM forums. Mainly because I'm not afraid to tell people what I think of them Anyways, I like that idea, BB. Also mabye have a tutorial selection called "Clouds + Polar Inversion" Ok, it was a bad joke -

Andrew D replied to sharpy's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
I have a good idea, meaning no-one has to go into tutorials unless someone reports it with an option saying "Bad tutorial" Yeah, an ability to report a post because it's bad. Either that or have a reputation system where you can +rep for good tuts/posts, and -rep for bad tutorials/posts. -

fonts and plugins for comic book in Paint.NET?
Andrew D replied to Strickalator's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Well, PDN dosen't have "text layers" so we can't help you there. You didn't understand me. Text layers basicallly means the ability to save text so it can be re-edited at a later date. -

fonts and plugins for comic book in Paint.NET?
Andrew D replied to Strickalator's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
No. Besides, if your thinking of making a comic professionally, you should just folk out the money. Anyways, you'll just have to completely do it by hand. And then at least next time you do it you can just do it instead of messing around getting every perfect. Or you could get this http://plasq.com/ It's $25 -
Like oma said, the only thing I really don't like about some of the plug-in's is that there is no anti-aliasing in it, meaning some of the results look ugly unless you then create the blends yourself.
-
Look at the Guassian Blur source (in the PDN 3.10 source), and then look at wikipedia for some more information. Or if you just want to use a blur to help a plug-in, just use guassian blur to a certain amount. It's what a few plug-in author's have done, although it means the plug-in wouldn't wok in PDN 3.20 APLHA 2.
-
Yes. You. Can. 1. There's a damn debugger in it. 2. You still have the source. 3. The only way you make the computer using one core is by using the wrong commands. 4. Basically, learn C# before trying to create something in CodeLab. If you want to code a plug-in in C++, you'll have to get the Visual Stduio Express 2005 C++ Edition. Just search it on google. Though, you would have to build it pretty much by yourself.
