  1. @ Rick: When will the new version be available? Since one week, I can't open my HD photos in PDN... @ Everybody: Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta is now public. Now XP users can view and even organize HD Photo files using an UI similar to WMP 11, too. At the moment, I see only two nasty things: 1.) HD Photo still has no shell integration (in XP), so you won't get a prewiev in Windows Explorer and no metadata access. 2.) The Installer is only a wizard which downloads the selected programmes. So you can not get and use Photo Gallery on computers without internet connection. The installer can be found here: http://get.live.com/betas/photogallery_betas
  2. I agree with Yata and vote for render. Just rename the plugin, e.g. "Fractal: Mandelbrot". It will look like this: Render -> Fractal: Mandelbrot. And I would be glad to see more fractals. I tried to make plugins from the cs scripts, but didn't found the time and knowledge, therefore I'm lucky to see this now. And thank you, it's nice.
  3. You're as intelligent as I thought. And thank you for all allowances. Intelligent, as I said. This will be a help.
  4. As I see it it can take up to 3 months until Google's search is corrected. Just for your knowledge.
  5. Thank you for your reply, Ed. I hope I didn't sound rude. My intention was not to be aggressive in any way, my post was rather a statement to express my personal thoughts and not something I believe to be "the truth" and "the way it really is". To be honest, for me your effects are something that are an important and appreciated part of Paint.Net, especially Dents and Surface Blur. Also, I often suggest other people to download and use your set of effects as I see them as a "must have". Then they tell me about the bugs (especially about the window thing) and then I say the bugs would be known and so on. The point is, I tell them these things for months. And most people who are new to Paint,Net think the app itself would be buggy. I decided to post after I haven't seen any reaction from you for a while. Now I got one and I'm really glad to hear about your forward-steps. The fact that only "blurs" and "distort" have the new strings is no problem in my eyes. You may switch to another language for fun and you will see what I mean. As I don't use every plugin out there (but 90 %, I think), so the superfluous submenus "blurs" and "distort" would vanish if just you, BlotBait (who said he'd update them) and Madjik (I didn't see him for a while, so maybe he has holidays (?)) would do the little update for the namespace strings, and this would be an important gain in space for all non-English users. Also I think if Rick does the work and integrates such new namespaces, they should be used, not just by one, but by all important and serious plugin authors (and you definately fit into this group). It would be piontless, if, for example, you change them but the "blurs"-menu stays there because of BoltBait's feather. The bug with the selection isn't that big problem (I just thought I've found a bug), and the window issue is nothing to die of. Updates for the namespaces would be great, but this is something I don't tell just you, I ask all plugin authors to be so kind. And codelab should be updated, but that is nothing for this thread. Last but not least, you are the author and you decide what to do with your plugins, it is already very nice that you just share them with us. For me, it was just worth a try, and I don't will steal your time anymore concerning this things. Wow, this got long. If you really read all this stuff thanks for that and take a break. EDIT: For the staff: If I wouldn't copy the things I write to notepad I would be forced to write this long text twice as I had to relogin. I posted it already in the thread for the new forum bugs, but this may serve as proof.
  6. Shame on me  But CMD, I thank you for your sophisticated answer. I had short time and obviously hadn't searched the way I should. My bad. For the subs, I think I will find a solution. At least with PDN 3.20 if Rick fullfills what he've said, and Rick is a very serious person I think. I have to say that in my eyes it is very sad that all these 1st class effects get only less support and updates. For example, on May 20th Ed said he would do something against this scary thing: Meanwhile it's september and we haven't heard anything. Anyway I want to thank Ed for sharing his plugins. Regardless of bugs and the lack of updates they are very professional done and allow impressive things I never want to miss. For good reasons they are sticky'd. And now I have to go, when I sit longer here to cry I maybe get owned by matt.
  7. Now, to make this Idea not die out, has anybody "got his fingers" on it? I mean, is there anybody who would be interested in making a beta plugin for testing purposes?
  8. :!: I've found an interesting bug in fast blur. I used it on two selections, saved the picture - and the entire image was "fast blurred". Also, after using fast blur on a selection, double your layer and you get two blurred layers. Can this be fixed? It makes it unusable. Also, Ed, I want to suggest that you remove your "Ed"-submenus. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem to have your name in the UI as I had no problem to have BoltBait's avatar in my effects menu. But keep in mind that your submenus were useful at the beginning, but today they are just unnessecary and even disturbing. Instead move your effects to the appropriate subs, e.g. solorize to "color" and fast blur to "blurs". You did the same with dents (wonderful effect btw). If you are so kind please note that since PDN 3.10 there are new strings for namespaces allowing automatic localization (thanks Rick).
  9. Due to my knowledge Open Search is for IE 7, too, as Microsoft and Mozilla cooperated (?). Basically, somebody with knowledge of XML may create it (I have no experience with this, but the page you linked includes the code). It would be a great help. When I search the forum, I usually do it via the forum search. Rick's search is much better, but I don't open up a new tab with the search everytime. Would be really nice if it was in the browser search bar.
  10. Aren't they yet included in the help menu? And I have meanwhile informed all people I like about PDN. I will not burn CDs, go to the park and say to strangers: "This is Paint.Net. Install it."
  11. Ash, your picture is just wonderful. Do you mind making a tutorial for us noobs out there how you made this beautiful angel wings? Pleeeaase...
  12. This sound possible. This Greycstoration Beta works the same way (hope the name is correct; btw, is this temporary or vanished it from the plugin board!?).
  13. I think no one says they are Rick's faults. But the sense of this topic is to post bugs and we are invited to do so by Rick himself. I as simple user don't know if I can provide help to detect and to solve bugs when I'm posting them, so I post them hoping it's support for other people.
  14. The last thing I could mention is the border plugin: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4799 According to the roadmap PDN 4.00 may feature scripting and recording actions. But it's a long way until this point.
  15. Well, I don't know which licenses are there. Last but not least, I think it would have to be a tool, and in my eyes there are no plans to change the tools at least until 4.00. I would like to see an updated tool system (like the new plugin system which is said to come) which is customizeable und plugin-like. To be honest, this is future stuff and if it would come I wouldn't expect it in this decade. But the effect is cool, and the developers did well.
  16. I had remebered this thing, did search (at the time it seemed to work and I really searched) and found nothing. So I hope it would be made clear for all time here. But even if Rick doesn't want to inculde it (although a good chance to enhance PDN by a tiny step by providing an option other programs doesn't have) maybe someone would be interested in making a plugin.
  17. Have a look on some parts of this tutorial: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3831
  18. @ surgency Or to Adobe. As Microsofts claims Copyright on some parts, I don't think it would be sold to Google or Adobe. If Google would get their "Don't be evil"-fingers on PDN, they would have to modify it. After this, PDN would scan your Hard Disc and send all PDN-files found to Google so the could open them and display ads related to your person. Also, they could sell your personal data to get the money back they used for buying. Hu, it's getting offtopic...
  19. I know what you mean. Resource editors and so on display the transparent parts with a colour (usually an ugly one ). So you may not see it. I saw them when I looked inside a modified msstyle-file from deviant.art long time ago. And Wikipedia is right. Edit: PS: As we have VTF support which I believe to be seldom used there would be no reason not to do this little upgrade. Last but not least I never saved a TGA via the build-in feature.
  20. There are ways to get transparent BMPs, if you have Win XP/Server 03, e.g. your interface includes them. I would like to see 32 bit BMPs in PDN (for example like the 24/32 bit selector of the HDP plugin), but I don't know if Rick would add it. Edit: Not to be forgotten: We hadn't new file type plugins for a while... I think it would be useful, for example for OS theming.
  21. Well, so Rick has to hire the other one. Just kidding. I think this would be a tool rather than a plugin. It would be very cool, but I don't think we will get it until at least PDN 5.00. :?
  22. I can witness this offline problem. Another thing: I was logged in (username was shown where logout button is), wrote a post and as I submitted it, this thing said "You are not logged in". I had to "re-log in" and had to write everything again.
