Scaling of the select tool
MattBlackLamb replied to klaypigeon's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
You can't set how big the selection area is (as in, type in a specific size) but at the bottom of the screen it does tell you how big the selection size is. Just make your selection the size you need it & then place it where you want on your image -
Press F4 then in the drop-down box select the blending mode that you need

Sparkle! Plugins (v2.6; Updated: 10/31/2007)
MattBlackLamb replied to kshotts's topic in Plugins - Publishing ONLY!
@ davidtayhs, try putting some small white spots on the black background, this way the plugin will see them as ligher parts of the image & render the sparkles over the white bits. Hope that helps -

Good things come to those who wait. Bear in mind that most of the people on this forum are American, so are asleep at the moment. -

Is it possible...
MattBlackLamb replied to YOSHIANDLINK1's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Put your text on a layer by itself. 1) Open PDN 2) Create a new layer 3) write your text on the new layer (by default this should be called layer 2) 4)Open up the plugin & fiddle with the settings until you are happy with them. Hope that helps -

They are all great Commander The planet one is really nice, I like all the colours in the background -
Neenee, I can replicate this in Paint.NET, but my experiences aren't as extreme as your's. This is possibly because I used a lighter background colour, or used a different font. The background colour I used was #B3B3B3, the font colour I used was #FF0000 & the font I used was Impact. There is a balance that Rick is trying to create here. On one side of the scales is the people that want to do simple stuff (crop, sepia / black & white). On the other side, there are people who want to do more advanced photo manipulation & know more about the technical side of things. What Rick is trying to do is make it easy for the average PC user to be able to do simple stuff easily & without a lot of hassle. If the jpeg save dialog were made for more technically minded users, the ease of use factor would be lost on people that don't understand it. As jpeg is probably the most widely used image format & therefore the one that people are more likely to save their images as.

Paint.NET is getting noticed!
MattBlackLamb replied to barkbark00's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Essh David, don't remind me. :? It's really pathetic that people would want to scam others by selling free software, on the other hand, it is publicity - of a kind... -
Neenee, I can't see any difference between the pictures you've posted, there are a couple of reasons why: 1) There isn't any difference, or 2) The images aren't of a high enough resolution for it to be obvious. If you have links to any higher res images that would make it easier to tell if there's any difference but as it stands the images all look the same to me.
