  1. There is also a diagonal lines plugin about somewhere by, if memory serves me well, the user jsonchiu. You can quickly find this plugin through either the Forum Search facility or Paint.NET's custom search engine: search.php http://searchpaint.net/ There are a few customisable features to the plugin that should suit many applications, with luck the one you want as well . ---- Also, locking is not based on a member's lifetime: you can be new or old, everybody is the same.
  2. I am unsure if you're trying to be comical or not, BlueYoni, but your tone is beginning to fair unpleasantly, which is not tolerated here, especially when two of our members have been kind enough to help you out. They were not rude to you, so do not reject that and become rude toward us.
  3. I'm not going to move a tutorial that would immediately become locked due to no supplementary images. That would be setting TheAmigo for a fatal fall. Although, now you know of the Tutorial Guidelines, TheAmigo, perhaps you could complete it to standards? If you so wished, of course. It would mean this won't become buried in the General Discussion section.
  4. What an excellent tutorial you have here, lindsaykorsen! And far more convenient to read than having to download anything, wouldn't you say? Great work, very much so.
  5. Even though jiZer's comment might well have read as 'ignorant', cold or sharp, that is not the case. jiZer was simple offering some of his own advice to compliment your own insight. If you remain feeling strong about jiZer's attitude, just remember that it's the comment of only one person from who-knows how many users and readers of this forum, so it might be best not to let yourself be swayed from sharing your own experiences and knowledge again. It is a decent write-up you have there.
  6. Greetings Shadow.NET. Regarding the first part of your post, no, the Grid size is currently not variable in any shape or form. As for the second part, can it be tied in with the Ruler, at the moment it can't be. Although, whether Rick Brewster, the lead developer, has plans for this or not is totally up to him, and he would be the best person to answer your request. Saying that, there has been virtually no interest in and, in turn, no word of such a link between Grid and Ruler before, so there's a chance such a feature might not come any time soon. Sorry. Does this answer you?
  7. Paint.NET does indeed work with most brands of graphic/drawing tablet. You set this up however the manufacturer details how to do so; Paint.NET will simply 'see' the tablet as a regular mouse or trackpad. There have been very few compatibility issues, although this shouldn't be taken that there will be none. If the tablet you have speaks of something like pressure sensitivity or suchlike - as in, that the width or opacity of the brush stroke is dependant on the amount of pressure you apply with the pen on the tablet, giving a much more genuine feel to drawing - then only Paint.NET running Windows Vista will be able to take full advantage of this feature. Don't forget to make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers for your tablet as well. If you have any problems as a result of Paint.NET, by all means post your issues in the Troubleshooting section of the Forum, where we might be able to offer a solution.
  8. Normally the tool of 'pen', as opposed to 'pencil' or 'paintbrush', is for paths and vectors, yes. However, if all you wish to do is colour in a scanned drawing, then the Paintbrush will suffice. Do check out this tutorial for colouring with the Paintbrush to see how it can be done effectively with Paint.NET: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6193
  9. The tutorial BoltBait pointed you to makes use of the Gradient Mapping plugin. That's how it applies a range of colours. Now, all you need to do is change the colours advised in the tutorial to the black and white you wish for. Alternatively, follow the tutorial to the end then apply the Black and White adjustment (Adjustments menu > Black and White). As a side note, a tutorial should be used to learn new methods as well as type of results. Because there is no tutorial that exactly meets your needs, that doesn't mean can't apply the methodology of one tutorial for your own purposes. We can't create a tutorial for every possible effect known to mankind, that would be impossible .
  10. No need to lock. I'm really glad it's sorted for you - a nice signature you have churned out with as well.
  11. Well 'pseudo-' does have the definition of 'almost' . Admittedly, whilst it's not perfect, it's all we have. I hold-heartedly agree. Honestly, I do, and I can bet ten British pence on the fact that a fair decent of other users would appreciate an export feature also. Saying that, we've learned to work around this with virtually no complaints. This is mainly because Rick Brewster, the lead developer, is already aware of the want and desire for the inclusion of said feature, therefore there's no need to hammer the point. If it arrives, then it arrives and we'll be happy with it. But we can't say that the whole Paint.NET project or its user-base will deteriorate (substantially) without it .
  12. Hello Dengel. From what I can see, all you will have to do is resize the car image to fit the height of the signature size only, so 150 pixels to conform the maximum allowed size. When you do this, make sure you have the 'Maintain aspect ratio' checkbox ticked in order to keep the proportions of the image relative. This will prevent ugly distorting. In future, you don't always have to resize both height and width to have the image fit into the desired space. As with here, you can easily just resize one or the other and have it adequately fit into place. Good luck!
  13. Greetings Deadl0ck. This has already been the topic of discussion before. Whilst these topics never received a definitive 'yay' or 'nay' to an export function becoming a part of Paint.NET, suggestions for a pseudo-export was put forth. This simple procedure is exactly what you've been doing so far: flattening, saving, undoing the flatten, continuing with work. For the moment, and for the foreseeable future, this is what you'll have to do to export your design mid-production.
  14. Actually, ilZec, use your other topic. It came first. Please review the Tutorial Guidelines: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=22620 Topic locked for above stated reason
  15. Fantastic to hear! Don't forget to check out the other plugins as there are quite a few useful ones to bolster your arsenal of editing tools.
  16. I've got your back: you can find this effect, Grid Maker, in MadJik's plugin pack in the Plugin section of the Forum.
  17. Have you searched the Plugins section for such a plugin? You will find at least two, I guarantee it. To narrow down your search, you should pay close attention to pyrochild's and BoltBait's plugin pack. Speaking of search, don't forget the searching facilities available to you: Paint.NET's Custom Search Engine; and the Forum's built-in Search utility, where you can search by specific sub-forums, author, or by topic or post. EDITED: you're > your. *Forehead slap*
  18. Hmm, there's a possibility I might have misinterpreted the terminology. When it says 'memory', it could mean your RAM (Random-Access Memory) not the memory of your HDD. My mistake completely, I have no excuse. I would like to leave this open for a second opinion, though.
  19. I'm going to ask you to repost your problem in the Plugin's topic, where either the author or a user more attuned to the plugin can sight it quicker and help out. For your convenience: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3837 Don't be disheartened by the locking of your topic, I hope you can understand why.
  20. This has been noted before, as well. The most common causality of this issue is when you're constructing a complex selection, like many selections at one time. Is this the case for you?
  21. Aethec, you can post crash logs in tags so to make it easier for us to read, and Simon to find out quicker what's at fault. From your crash log, I picked up this line from the exception details: 'Tentative de lecture ou d'écriture de mémoire protégée. Cela indique souvent qu'une autre mémoire est endommagée.' Google translates this as: 'Attempt to read or write protected memory. This often indicates that the memory is damaged.' Were you saving at the time? What the above usually means is that there's a problem with your storage device, your hard-drive disk if that's what you're saving to. Perhaps it is corrupt (damaged), full, or protected by a password from writing to it. Are you having any similar problems with other duties in Paint.NET or other software? Finally, are you the administrator of the computer you're using?
  22. Welcome dreadd. As you may have guessed, Paint.NET is no text editor. To work around this, you can either: - import the picture into your preferred word processor, and type/copy/paste as and when; or - take a screenshot of the text and paste that screenshot into Paint.NET. From there, you can remove the background ([1]* or [2]) and place the text where you wish. Do remember to have the text on it's own layer to ease the task. Paint.NET is not the best tool if you wish to take on a heavy text-based workload, however, you can find ways around this, as stated above. *an excellent tutorial for alpha masking, if you're unsure of the process, resides here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5276
  23. Very well done! Many requests can be easily answered with this plugin. When the next iteration of Paint.NET is released, 3.50, it will brandish the .NET F/work 3.5 SP1, requiring everybody to have it installed, so you won't have to worry about that too much.

    ABP Design

Everyone has to start somewhere. Perhaps if some constructive advice was offered, ABP could develop his/her skill, excelling. Maybe even to the point where people don't comment on his/her work by simply describing what has been done. Yes? In all honesty, Ouchy_S, you're one of the last people to criticise slapping renders on custom backgrounds. *Looks at signature*
