  1. Greetings. You can almost always rely on the plugin author to tell you whether the plugin is a file type, effect or adjustment in the first post, and where to find it in Paint.NET after installation. What's more, you can usually determine that yourself by the title of the plugin, which will also give a clue to what the plugin might do. (For instance, you know Printer+ isn't a photo manipulation effect, likewise Grid Maker a white balance adjustment.) I cannot better finish this posting than with what Leif wrote:
  2. Greetings M.Hat. It might help us if you provided us with the image in question, even if it's a resized version, just so we can give better direction for help. Until then, what I would do is Clone Stamp ( :CloneStamp: ) the artefact(s) out before a dashing of Gaussian Blur or Unfocus if needed (localised by way of the selection tools ( :LassoTool: ) to naturalise the cloning. If you're into plugins, and you should be with the pack that follows, then True Blur can provide a great alternative to the aforementioned blurs. Does this help?
  3. Also remember: the Rules, particularly [rule=6]Rule #6[/rule]. When you read the link, you'll see that your topic title must be descriptive. This in order for both the right user to see your problem and help more efficiently, and more importantly, for a clean and organised Forum; imagine if the Forum was littered with 'help!' and 'request!!!!'. Because of this, I'm going to lock your topic. This doesn't stop you from posting again, in fact, we'd be more than happy to extend the hand of help when you need it. Topic locked
  4. Greetings. Allow me to clear a few things up. Are you able to open the JPEG image in any other program? Are you able to open the PDN image in Paint.NET? How are you resaving the files - by File > Save (As) or manually retyping the extension? Have you got a period (full stop '.') in the file name? If you could answer as many of the questions as possible, that would help us to help you quicker. Many thanks, sbjch1997 .
  5. Only you can shed light onto this.Do you have administrator rights to the computer and all associated program files?
  6. Without knowing more about the package downloaded from 'portableturk.com', we can't help you very well. If, as you say, you only have a working EXE to speak of, then it doesn't sound as though you can install plugins the way you are supposed to, unless you install Paint.NET locally onto your computer from getpaint.net. Perhaps someone else here familiar with the circumstance could lend a hand. Is there any particular reason you are using a portable version? Furthermore, did you know that there is a better way to use Paint.NET 'portably'?
  7. DarkMie, it is highly advisable you review the Rules before posting again (Rule [rule=2]#2[/rule] in particular). You should have noticed that you're posting in a section titled 'Troubleshooting & Bug Reports', a place meant for technical assistance. If you have an ordinary question to ask, the General Discussion & Questions section is the place to post. Your topic has been moved to the said section. Moved to General Discussion & Questions
  8. Greetings Dustinnnn. Your topic title breaks [rule=6]Rule 6[/rule] which explains that topic titles must be descriptive. This in order for both the right user to see your problem and help more efficiently, and more importantly, for a clean and organised Forum; imagine if the Forum was littered with 'question!' and 'help!!!!'. Madness it would be. Utter lunacy. Because of this, I'm going to lock your topic. This doesn't stop you from posting again, in fact, we'd be more than happy to extend the hand of help when you need it. Before you fret, your question has been answered brilliantly by the above posters. Topic locked
  9. Greetings jeff9897. Do remember to post in the correct section next time - you have a trouble to shoot, so the Troubleshooting & Bug Reports section is the one for you. Also, take a look through some other topics as step-by-step instructions have been posted before for people in the same situation as yourself. Moved to Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
  10. Hello there randstav. No, the two are not the same I'm afraid. Layers are the 'sheets' you can lay on the image enabling you to manipulate the image in a variety of ways. For the action of cropping, as you may do in other graphic packages, there is no need for layers. For cropping as you speak, there is no dedicated tool as you might find in the likes of GIMP, Photoshop, et al.. Instead you must select the area for cropping with any of the selection tools ( :LassoTool: ), followed by Image menu > Crop to Selection, or Ctrl + Shift + X Additional information about layers can be found with the Help Documents: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/L ... Modes.html ; and the Paint.NET Wikibook: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Paint.NET/ ... rs_Example. Does this help you?
  11. Greetings Angelina. Do remember to post in the correct section next time - you have a trouble to shoot, so the Troubleshooting & Bug Reports section is the one for you. Moved to Troubleshooting & Bug Reports --- Let's try and start from the beginning: what have you downloaded and where from?
  12. You can create the geometric shapes with such plugins as Polygon / Stars and Spirals. You will then want to manipulate the next accordingly on its own layer, before removing/hiding the polygon layer. This will leave you with 'shaped' text.
  13. For Paint.NET itself, no. For the plugins, yes, unless they have received permission from the respective authors. Which I'm willing to bet ten British pence is not the case for the majority.
  14. Perhaps you did not look close enough as there as indeed a place just for bug reporting: I will move your topic just this once as sometimes these mishaps do happen. We would ask you to be that little more careful next time. Many thanks, Antonio Bakula. I've also [rule=6]edited your title[/rule] to better match your report. Somebody who can answer your report should be around shortly. Topic moved to Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
  15. The most commonly used 'userbar font' goes by the name 'Visitor' (and variations thereof), which best matches (almost identical, you would think) to your example image: http://www.dafont.com/visitor.font You can find this plus other userbar tips in the Making Userbars tutorial. Don't forget the Internet bleeds userbar tutorials as well.
  16. With customisation comes confusion: troubleshooting and assistance would become that little more difficult for us all. A: how do i get a transparant gradient 4 teh Camaro tut???? B: Click the little colourful icon on the second row under the zoom level. A: i cant c it, i dont think i ave it... B: Have you rearranged your toolbar, perchance? A: Yeah. B: ... I can predict what Rick, the lead developer, would retort with: 'Not gonna happen.'
  17. Do bear in mind that you will you lose printing capabilities*, Windows Explorer thumbnails, and registry traces are left behind on the host computer, which true portable applications aim to prevent. What's more, the necessary .NET Framework has to be installed on the host computer first. This is not officially supported, nevertheless has been recommended before. Basically, do not expect any technical assistance if your portable version goes belly upwards. Hope this also helps. *you'll have to save in the regular way then print from another application; Windows Paint comes standard and has a decent printing facility.
  18. If I haven't misunderstood you Crimson, then yes, under the menu command Path > Trace Bitmap.
  19. Greetings 391maine. You're right, this is not entirely the correct place. If you have an issue with a plugin you have downloaded, it's best to direct all lines of questioning to that topic. This helps in two ways: to keep all troubleshooting of a particular with the particular plugin; and the author, or someone well versed with that plugin, can answer you far quicker and far more efficiently than tripping across this here by accident. By all means, re-post your problem in the CodeLab topic. (The 'publishing only' does not apply to 'publishing' comments, critique or queries, as long as it's in the appropriate topic.)
  20. anaylaa: as has been stated already, do [rule=6]mind your topic titles[/rule] in future. We don't want to have to lock another of your pleas for help . Don't be put off by this locking, you're more than welcome to ask for help again or contribute to the Forum in the future if you so wish. Rontenfour: no need to hijack someone else's topic. If you have a new question to ask, there's nothing wrong with starting your own topic. So long as you run with the Rules, you'll be set on your way in no time at all! Topic locked
  21. Greetings Vanquiz. Ouchy_S's answer is quite apt, drawing in on the wonderful resource that is the Tutorials section, a great place to learn new methods that can be easily applied to signatures. Go check it out! Now, two items I wish to draw your attention to: 1) this is a [rule=12]family-friendly forum[/rule], so calm your language. If you are unsure as to what I'm referring, check your fist post. 2) Watch your [rule=6]topic titles[/rule], yours gives no clue to what your topic is about. This could lead to confusion, make it harder to search for answers if this topic would be required in the future, and serves to clutter the Forum with ambiguous nonsense. A more approachable title would have been something like 'how to make a signature' or 'need help with signature design'. Because of the above two, I'm going to lock your topic. This doesn't stop you from posting again, in fact, we'd be more than happy to extend the hand of help when you need it. Topic locked
  22. This is where I jump in for a little shameless self-advertisement. The below link will take you to a 'tutorial' that details the process if you are unsure at any point: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26979
  23. Additionally, try the Clone Stamp for the bane that is acne: http://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/en/CloneStamp.html
  24. Second return from the bottom: http://tinyurl.com/6xvqpn (Within the URL lies two square brackets, rendering any regular URL presentation in BBCode useless, only because it's too lengthy to display with brevity.)
