  1. nice ribbon good job on the cardboard. I've been looking at how that rope was done in the one tut and looking at how those knots were tied. Its going to take me a bit to figure that linking and overlapping out.
  2. ummm so why did you not use the search ? no need to ask someone to make this as its already avail viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23170&p=153730&hilit=ascii#p153730
  3. thanks took me awhile to scoot down the number of steps to begginers level. I'd personally add quite a bit more on this but wanted to do simple, and easy to follow this time round. I'm more than pleased with how it turned out. It was more to answer those pesky questions about how to merge layers, duplicate layers, and set blend modes.
  4. ...and I'm not so patiently waiting for their release! because I just know they are bound to be so awesome!

 @007 Nab a million thanks for fixing that for me. My spelling is not my strong point. edit the two corners are text and I did use ASH tut on simple 3d metal using dropshadow. The centre round area around the hole in the tag is supposed to be one of those fancy metal grommets, they use in scrapbooking. I used the rosaces plugin, with an assortment of other effects. ciao

I've done traditional scrapbooking for years, and have just recently started to make my own page embelishments . The scrapbookers will recognize this type of tag. I used this tut for the cardboard. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=24255 I'm thinking it needs ribbon but not sure how to tie a knot thru the hole.
  7. I supose you could use feather but this is ripped paper should be little bits of rough along the edge I'm thinking. If you want to use feather you go right ahead. It is just the basics and you can modify in any manner you want. I made a notation in the tut of your suggestion thanks ciao
  8. uncheck the first layer which is all white when you open a new picture, add a transparent layer draw a filled box shape with outline. then under layers > import from file. your picture will be on next transparent layer. just use the move pixels tool and line up the picture bit more towards top edge of your white square.
  9. search button parameter polaroid ? there is a fairly decent tut. try that one. suggest you read all the comments as well. as there are a few additional tips there re shadows and some examples of others work. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=20435&hilit=polaroid
  10. you are welcome did you get the note in your PM about what to do with this cardboard for the top layer of your project we were working on? should make a nice addition to that first project of yours. ciao
  11. thanks Hope the fix works. wanted to show the newbies where they could easily duplicate a layer. ciao
  12. two versions each teaches different method When I first wrote this we were between version switches and the multi color gradiant was not avial (it was in process of revision). I did leave the old version further down just so you see there is always two or more ways to do things. =============================== THE NEW VERSION very easy 800 x 600 use multi color gradiant color 0 BCAB85 color 1 A18F6A check the alternating colors box and set the count as high as possible (20) angle is 90 on same layer now tile image set horizontal to 5 and vertical to 1 and make sure you check the box join edges. time to make a duplicate layer. and smooth just a bit the top layer using motion blur uncheck the bottom layer (so you do not see it) and work on the top layer. see the top on is the blue highlighted one that way you know you are working on that one. you will be using the selection lasso tool and taking out part of the side for the cut portion. so lasso your edge on top layer and hit the little sissor icon. you should see a checkered portion. This way you know you have transparency on that area of this the second layer. at this point it is a good idea to feather the edge of that cut. When you rip cardboard there is generally a bit of lighter portion this next gives those highlights. I'm sure you noticed that in the above picture the lighter edges in bit and places. here is what I did .......... use the selection lasso and just catch in a few edges (we are still on the top layer) I use under adjustments brightness and contrast. we will give it a bit more depth now a bit of drop shadow (you should still be on the top layer !) now is the time to just go in and check the bottom layer flatten image ta da easy version done. ==================================================================== THE OLD VERSION medium difficulty This is not a difficult tut but you do have to pay close attention about when to duplicate a layer, when to merge layers and which layers you will be working on. I will type all caps where its important. Not shouting at you just want your full attention at that spot. quick notes for beginners this example was done on 800x600 colors primary BCAE88 secondary D3C39A 1) effects>render>lattice on this same layer effects>blur>motion blur 2.05 centre checked 116 distance "DUPLICATE THAT LAYER " "ON THE BOTTOM LAYER" effects>stylize>emboss at 90 degrees "ON THE TOP LAYER" set blend mode to reflect at opacity 141 "MERGE THOSE TWO LAYERS TOGETHER" "NOW DUPLICATE THE LAYER" so you have two layers again "ON THE BOTTOM LAYER" use height to field plug in. viewtopic.php?t=2973 this you will see changes the color to blue don't worry. next step will fix that. you are still working on the bottom layer the height to field layer effects>color>colortint at default ""BOTTOM LAYER" "ON THE TOP LAYER" set your blend modes to darken and opacity to 156 "MERGE THE TWO LAYERS" tricky bit for beginners change the window size to 33% use the move pixels tool and clik anywhere within the paper pull the nubs out to the edge of your screen. NOTE: the paper doesn't move to the edges just the nubs beleive me the pattern its stretched out . after you have stretched the paper effects>blur>motion blur o angle 90 distance "NOW DUPLICATE THE LAYER" "ON THE TOP LAYER" we are now making the smooth outer portion effects>blur>gausian blur 11 still on the TOP LAYER use the lasso tool and do your selection for cutting away either sissors or delet button will get rid of that portion. As suggested by LFC4EVER below at this point after cutting, you can use feather or aa on this layer if you want a smoother edge. This is totally up to you. I didn't as I liked the ragged edge, but if you feel you want smoother now is the time to do so. highlights still on TOP LAYER Note: I unclik the bottom layer at this point so I can see the torn edge better. use lasso tool again and just catch portions of the to cut/torn edge. Try to leave some areas not in the lasso portion. Use adjustments>brightness and contrast anywhere between 7 and about 30 still on TOP LAYER drop shadow go back and re check that bottom box so you see both layers again """"MERGE LAYERS TOGETHER """" you should now have shallow thin cardboard this ends the basic tut. ADDITIONAL OPTIONS at this stage to get thicker darker cardboard duplicate your finished cardboard and set top layer to multiply play with the opacity adjustment down wards until you get the color you want. some of you may wish to add frosted glass along the torn edge prior to doing the brightness/contrast edges step. play with it
  13. thanks I'd appreciate that. ciao
  14. oh yes way to go burst my bubble. this is probably a dumb question but is there any way to print out a text file of the .sls ? short of opening the script and double cliking each effect, and manually typing settings to a text file. I'd like to look and see if I can modify one script to something else. edit actually I've 2.2.3038.29168
  15. well if you re talking about batch process? are you planning on letting me link up 3 or 4 scripts to run in a row. on multiple layers.?
  16. I might even make a tut. as everyone groans..... I know I know I'm lousy at tut writing. but I think I've got this one nailed. just got to do my screen shots. PS what does cardboard smell like?
  17. as far as I can see it is now working fine. thanks for your attention to this. ciao
  18. Ahhh I see you got over your internet problems. glad to see you've opened a gallery for yourself. love the first sig. there were still a few stray pixels that needed to clean up around that fellow I cut out for you. If you still have in layers (PDN) form use the eraser and get rid of those little stray bits around the outside edge. same this the other two icons. If you don't have keep in mind for next pictures you do. look forward to checking in and seeing your work from time to time. ciao
  19. screen shot sent to you thru your PM's sorry for taking so long to get back to you. took a couple of painkillers and went to bed for the day yesterday. it sure is pesky getting old.
  20. actually it was to get your attention Mike... as I couldn't follow in anyway shape or form what that had to do with the error message. and besides my hands are aching from arthritis today and its easier to use the baby finger to do the quote marks than to stretch us for the @ sign. ouch.
  21. I've just re read what the two of you were talking about and didn't understand one thing ""Mike" what the heck are you talking about? Pyro just wanted you to know I'm able to save xml files in 3d shape and load them so I'm thinking its in the xml function of this curves plugin.
  22. consistanly, I've tried to save both luminosity curves and alpha curves as xml in both my documents and my pictures. there isn't a error report on my desk top or I'd have sent that. when I check my documents and my pictures afterwards there is a xml file there but it will not load. when I try to open with xml editor I'm blocked by IE activex blocker message cliking to allow access does nothing at all. so it might be an IE issue? I'm at a loss how to fix that if it is. ciao
