I agree Paint.NET could be improved in loading fonts.
If it's not possible, I'll be ok to see the preview being disabled. (yeah, French love the passive form).
If you want to develop plugins, target them only for v3.20, without any compatibility tricks for 3.10, otherwise, due to Paint.NET "support policy", these tricks will be useless in a month.

Is the .NET Runtime Optimization Service v2.0.50727 (Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN) ...service activated on your machines?
It's the only "third-party" program I can think of.

Yeah, I was thinking about the new bundled effects' dialogs, and in fact they copy the all canvas, disregarding the selection (in the button).
