Find plugin to merge each of layers to background
BoltBait replied to promanga's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Open your image and setup your layer names according to this plugin: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/31629-animated-images/ This allows you to have a static background image and apply each layer in turn to create an animated gif. Save as an animated image even if your individual frames don't make sense as an animation. Load your animated image using this plugin. Now each layer has a single layer combined with the static background. Finally, use this plugin to export all layers as separate files: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/31597-alternative-to-layersaver/ Once you unzip the resulting file, I think you'll have what you want. -

Request: Change "save as" behaviour
BoltBait replied to songohanssj's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
With the "Save as a copy" feature, the file would remain "dirty" if in a changed, unsaved state. This would remind you to save the layered file if you go to exit PdN before saving. -

Request: Change "save as" behaviour
BoltBait replied to songohanssj's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Rick is considering a "Save as a copy" feature for a future release. This feature would leave the project in layers even if the saved copy was a single layer format (jpg, png, etc.) -
paint.net 4.1.6 is now available!

While I generally agree with that, the fact is, the old icons were very broken on high DPI (4K) screens. -
Suggestion: Add Old Icons Theme
BoltBait replied to Rian Licup's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
Do you really care that much what the buttons look like? I'm much more interested in what they do when I press them. I suspect this next image is going to drive you crazy... Seriously, the new icons are a huge improvement when running a high DPI screen. Just give it a day or two and you won't even remember what the old icons looked like. -
Suggestion: Add Old Icons Theme
BoltBait replied to Rian Licup's topic in Troubleshooting & Bug Reports
Paint.NET does not restrict the use of older versions in case an upgrade is not supported on your operating system. For example, lots of people use Paint.NET v3.5.11 on Windows XP. HOWEVER, we do not offer support to older versions, here on the forum. So, you can stay on an older version, but you're on your own if you have a problem. -
Is there a way to keep using the old UI?
BoltBait replied to juak's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
There is not. But, give it a few day and you won't even remember what the old icons look like. -
Plugin Concept: Complementary Colors
BoltBait replied to BoltBait's topic in Plugin Developer's Central
Thanks, but converting between the two color spaces was not necessary. And, I had actually found code for that anyway. https://github.com/sanjayatpilcrow/SharpSnippets/blob/master/POCs/POCs/Sanjay/SharpSnippets/Drawing/ColorExtensions.cs What I found difficult was measuring distances around the RYB colorwheel since the hue between each color is a different distance. This can be seen in the colorwheel shown in the help file (if you calculate the distances between each color). I ended up just hard coding a 360 byte array. Here is what I used for RYB P S P S P S P (P=Primary, S=Secondary) Compare that to RGB The colors are in the same order, just some areas are stretched and some are compressed in the RYB model. In the RGB model, all hue's are equally spaced. (I had to write a CodeLab script to create that RYB image. BTW, it doesn't matter that the green is dark, I'm only looking at the Hue.) -

Honestly, I have no idea. I never downloaded that plugin. But, I'll take a guess and say that it is probably using the RGB colorwheel instead of the RYB colorwheel I'm using. -

I was playing with the Complementary Colors Calculator at https://www.sessions.edu/color-calculator/ I made a plugin to simulate the algorithm... Not an official release yet as I may need to tweak the algorithm I wrote. I could not find a good source for the code, so I cobbled together something that kinda works. Here's how it looks: (It lives in the Effects > Fill menu.) It fills your selection with the selected color. Use it to build a palette for your design project. The help file (?) contains more information. And, here's the download: complement.zip Enjoy.

BoltBait replied to Rick Brewster's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
You can use this utility to remove the broken installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Then, try to install 4.1.6 again.
