  1. Here's the additional info from the app store on the official one... Here's what my install looks like (Classic install):
  2. I shall test your theory as I'm heading out to the car dealership in a few minutes to buy a new car. EDIT: Well, that took 4 hours and TONS of signatures... and all I was doing was writing a check for the full purchase price of the car. Why does it have to be so complicated? (Actual time haggling about the price was about 2 minutes.)
  3. FWIW, my plugin pack still prompts for Admin privs when installing plugins for the store version because the installer has to work in both cases (store and not store).
  4. Try Effects > Noise > Median: You might need to clean up the spots between the R and o and between R and y... But, this should get you most of the way there. (I just selected the "Roy" so you could see the difference.)
  5. Remove your selection before running the tube effect. Ctrl+D
  6. It seems easy to reproduce for me: Open the 32 bit image. Save as... badfile.png (auto bit depth) The resulting file will have been saved at bit depth: 4 (according to the Windows file properties) If you open the original image and then load this new file as a layer... then switch the layer's blend mode to XOR, you'll see the files are not identical. The differences are subtle, but they're there. In this case, saving as PNG is NOT lossless. (Differences seen in Paint.NET v4.2.13.)
  7. OK, well, it sounds like your install of Paint.NET has become corrupt. Download this program and use it to remove the broken Paint.NET install. Then, try to download Paint.NET again. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-installed-or-removed
  8. I'm glad you like it. I use it all the time. That is exactly right!
  9. Try this plugin: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/16347-circle-text/
  10. After you make your selection, use the tool, click and hold your mouse button down on a selection handle, then use your mouse arrow keys to make fine adjustments.
  11. Well, your .NET Framework is definitely broken. You should contact Microsoft about that. I'm not sure we can do any more for you here and Paint.NET requires the .NET Framework in order to operate properly.
  12. There's always this tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135
  13. Ouch! Yeah, that's bad. I think you're on the right track trying to repair your .NET Framework.
  14. When you say Paint.NET "crashes"... what EXACTLY happens? Can you show us a screenshot? Or, does the Paint.NET window simply close? Can you share a ShareX screen capture movie of the crash? I'll assume you've tried rebooting.
  15. Select what you want to keep using one of the select tools: Then click the Crop tool:
  16. Try https://www.irfanview.com/ There is a plugin that allows it to view Paint.NET files.
  17. Try installing my plugin pack, link in sig. It will tell you that it can't find Paint.NET--ignore that. Then, on the main screen there is a checkbox that allows you to select the Store version of Paint.NET, check that. Then install everything. See if that works and report back.
  18. I don't have any issues when I copy from Paint.NET or MS Paint and paste into Word... the image comes out the right size. When you copy an image from inside of Word and paste it into Paint.NET or MS Paint it comes out the wrong size. This is a known issue and is a problem with Word, not Paint.NET.
  19. Nope. That said, some people have been able to get version 3.5.11 working--you could check that out. You won't be completely out in the cold as I do have a plugin pack that works under that version. There's also a build of CodeLab for it. That's something you should take up with the wine folks, not us. BTW, this is a FAQ, so I'm going to close this thread.
  20. If you have an idea on how to improve the automatic algorithm, I'm excited to see your results. Please show us your code!
  21. Glad to know you got it sorted out. I listed those programs because they are all known to interfere with the proper operation of Paint.NET in some way.
  22. Are you running any of the following programs? Mirillis Action! Window Blinds EVGA PrecisionX Powerstrip MSI Gaming APP Webroot ATI Hydravision Discord Overlay MacType Fraps Asus ROG Sonic Studio Stardock Object Desktop Manager Dolphin SuperNova
  23. OK, I'm running Windows 10 version 2004... I'm able to save from Paint.NET v4.2.13 just fine. I'm wondering if there's something strange about the directory you're saving to... for example, is the path on a network drive? Is the folder "cloud" backed up? Is it a "one drive" folder? Do you have "file versioning" enabled? Have you tried saving a graphic file to your desktop?
  24. There are different techniques based on the source image. Can you show us? Or, at least describe better... is it black text on a white background? Is is black text on a transparent background? etc.
