  1. Thanks for the replies. I have a 'Fonts' folder already, but I think I'll create a new one especially for this operation, just to be on the safe side.
  2. I seem to have a surfeit of fonts (including some special fonts that I have added) and would like to reduce this to something more manageable. Any suggestions as to the best way to go about this? Thanks in advance. A.
  3. I do quite a bit of restructuring on older out-of copyright maps for my family history website, which entails a lot of use of the line/curve tool. It works fine up to a point, but sometimes i feel that a little more flexibility with the curves would be useful. Is there a plugin available that would increase the number of adjustment points on the lines? Fingers crossed. Thanks.
  4. Just about a month late with this reply. Humble apologies. Looks like there's not a lot can be done for my low resolution problem, although MJW's reply does look as though it could be the answer to the rotating text query. The TT2 font looks fairly reasonable, too. Not had time to investigate them thoroughly, yet. One problem I have with print is that, in the sixties, I worked for Varityper as a service engineer, and dealt with metal type fonts. A different kettle of fish when it came to small print. Once again, my thanks to all who offered advice.
  5. It's been quite a few years since I installed a plug-in, and I can't for the life of me recall how it was done. At the moment, I am looking to install the Rotate Text plug-in. I've looked in FAQ, but nothing there. Any help appreciated.
  6. I bought another Laptop yesterday ( HP) windows 10 pro, so thought that I would update to the latest build of Paint from the Windows store. I spent about half-an-hour trying to create an MS account, but had to give it up after several failed attempts. Eventually, I downloaded, no problems, from the PDN site. I couldn't believe how much information Microsoft wanted from me. I could have bought a car with less hassle. Anyway, pleased with the result and don't worry, nobody lost out, financially. As I didn't have to pay for my copy, I made a donation.
  7. Many thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I didn't realise, for instance, that there were ways of influencing font quality available in PDN. I shall be playing with these ideas to-morrow, providing that my wife doesn't have other things in mind. She managed to blow the fuse in the wallpaper steamer, today. Never a dull moment! I'll let you know how I get on. Oh, and I've downloaded the TT2 font, by the way. Looks quite promising.
  8. I've been using PDN for quite some time, now, mainly for updating old street maps for my website. I have two queries. In some cases, quite frequently, actually, I have to use fonts as small a six point. Unfortunately, this degrades the quality of the resulting text and I'd like to know if there is any way in which it can be improved? Are there any small, high definition fonts available? My second query is about rotating text. When I have to re-write the name of a street or road, I first erase the old text, put down a new layer, and manoeuvre the new text into place with the aid of rectangle select, etc. This also degrades the characters. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks, but just found it. Don't know why, but I couldn't see the icon. Pilot error. :)
  10. Bought the ebook a couple of days ago through Amazon, but it has disappeared off my PC. Any ideas, please?
  11. I've have just noticed that the 'choose defaults' item is no longer displaying at the top of the Tools drop-down menu. Has it been permanently deleted?
  12. I am trying to locate the plug-in which makes it possible to convert RAW files to Jpeg, but I don't know how I should describe it in the search bar. Any help appreciated.
