The description of the problem you gave is rather generic. Could you provide specific, step-by-step direction on how you are "adding an image"? This might give us a clue as to what's wrong.

Text alignment was never a feature of Outline/Gradient Text. I have no plans to support this. Sorry.

Have you installed my plugin pack? I have plugins to create an alpha mask (Effects > Object > Switch Alpha to Gray) and to use an alpha mask (Effects > Object > Apply Alpha Mask).

This is a band-aid, not a solution.

I would suggest starting by installing a plugin pack that comes with an installer, such as mine: https://forums.getpaint.net/BoltBaitPluginPack When prompted, tell the installer that you're using the "Store Version" of Paint.NET. Once it is complete, you'll have the proper directories created in your "My Documents" folder. Go from there.

Next time that happens, try Alt+Tab to see if there is another dialog box open. Or, press ESC to see if that clears out whatever is blocking you.

Please zip up one of the images that refuses to open and attach the zip file here. Just be sure the image is family-friendly.

Sounds like you have an existing paint.net installation that has become broken. Please use this utility to remove the broken installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Afterwards, you should be able to install paint.net anew.

Sharpen was rewritten for Paint.NET v5. If you are looking for the classic sharpen effect, just install my plugin pack.

The background image is pretty simple, recreate it? Or, magic wand select the white area (between the orange blobs--adjusting tolerance as necessary) and press Ctrl+I to invert your selection.

You can use the TAB key to move between controls. Up arrow and Down arrow work on the numeric sliders. Space Bar works on the buttons.

FYI, you'll need to edit your .csproj file to put those sections in it. I'm not sure you can do that with the Visual Studio UI.

For my plugin pack, I'm using ILRepack (to create a single release .DLL file when using ComputeSharp--not for debug) after trimming with ILLink. This method was taught to me by user @otuncelli I will leave it to him to explain how to make it work so you can give him the up-vote.
