  1. Please post a screenshot showing both the WinVer dialog and the '"... Windows 10 (version 1607) is required" message.
  2. You can try the Fade Edge plugin: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/8375-drop-shadow-and-other-effects-krisvdms-plugin-pack-updated-2010-10-26/ There's also TR's Edge Fader Extreme plugin: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/26479-trs-edge-fader There's an index of the available plugins here: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/15260-plugin-index/
  3. You can use this utility to remove the broken Paint.NET installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Afterwards, you can install Paint.NET anew.
  4. This can happen when you've previously had a broken installation of paint.net on your computer. Use this utility to remove the broken installation: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed Afterwards, you can install paint.net anew.
  5. Please ensure your text is not being obscured by another layer, and that you're not trying to type outside of an active selection. If you're still having trouble, please post a screenshot demonstrating the issue.
  6. Those kinds of grids are usually in a separate layer. Can you uncheck the box on the grid layer?
  7. Please also try the .NET Framework Repair Tool: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/dotnet/net-framework-repair-tool/
  8. If you're using the Paint.NET from the Microsoft Store, you can follow alternative Plugin Installation instructions located here: https://www.getpaint.net/doc/latest/InstallPlugins.html#4
  9. Your installation of the .NET Framework is broken. You need to run the System File Checker. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker
  10. This was was a slightly different issue than the one you have. Please don't post in these very old forum threads. You've already created your own, and that is sufficient. Locked.
  11. RGBW monitors (and TVs) are terrible, and should be removed from the market. They are a borderline scam. If you're working on images/photos/video, RGBW is a very poor choice, because it can't accurately display the colors of your content. The Mactype software injects itself into the DIrect2D stack of Windows, and can cause Paint.NET to crash.
  12. @Pixey, the second to last image in the butterfly poll is not displaying properly.
  13. Version 1.5 had been released. Note: Yes, you can still perform Rotate and Scale operations. Rotation and Scaling are now done within the shape editor. Press Ctrl+M, or Ctrl+Click on a nub
  14. Support for Direct2D in Wine still has a ways to go, but if you know what you're doing, it's possible to open Paint.NET v4.0 now. Obviously it's not really usable at this point, so stick with Paint.NET v3.5.
  15. You hit the nail on the head. Support for AVIF in Paint.NET is dependent on the image codec from Microsoft. The codec doesn't support encoding, therefore Paint.NET doesn't either. Feel free to send your request to Microsoft. There are a few encoders in existence, so maybe a plugin developer will leverage one of them to implement Paint.NET support.
  16. Please run Windows Updates, and make sure it's up-to-date.
  17. This is not true for Paint.NET. Bugs and crashes get fixed in both the Free and Paid distributions of Paint.NET. The Microsoft Store would not accept any payment from her. Sounds like a isolated incident, and an issue with her Microsoft account.
  18. Can you please specify what crash issue you are referring to?
  19. I guess no one has any complaints/suggestions in regards to this, so I'll officially release it later this week. I still need to update some of the included documentation.
  20. Looks like you have Nvidia Image Sharpening turned on. You can disable it in the Nvidia control panel.
