midora
The message tells that the part of the file which contains the serialization data of the layer structure is damaged (probably because not the complete file has been written). There is little chance to recover anything because the layer bitmaps are stored after the serializtion data. Sorry. But if you upload the file anywhere then we may have a look. midora
There are just the first 12 of 38 layers left. So some background layers no details. I'm not sure it's worth to extract them. Edited November 14, 2021 by midora
Ego Eram Reputo
Locate the file and right-click on it. Any option to "Restore previous version"? LuDuo
Dear EgoEramReputo, it doent seems possible to restore previous version, because there isn't any Windows restoration point... Dear Midora, Thanks for the informations. So there are only 12 layers remaining.... :'( So i understand that the file is defenitely lost.... i feel sad, but no problem, it's life. I will do it again I only need 20 to 30 hours more ! In all the cases, thanks for your support and your help. I would like to say that i really appreciate Paint.net and this problem will not change my general point of view on the software. Thanks Midora and Ego for your quick answers. skullbonz
This time save your work at regular intervals and this would save you a lot of time and frustration. It should be your number 1 rule when making anything in pdn. Quote http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21233-skullbonz-art-gallery
Rick Brewster
Older versions of Paint.NET would corrupt the file if a crash happened while saving. Since 3.5.7 (February 2011) this is transactional, so that doesn't happen anymore. Your file is corrupt. It can't be recovered. Please make sure to install updates! This is pretty easy if you have the auto-updater enabled in Settings; it's enabled by default but maybe you turned it off at some point.
