@cycoshas:  Please DO NOT post links to software pirates.  The so-called plugin pack you linked to is illegally redistributing plugins without permission.  I've sent them a "cease and desist" message.

Be aware that it is ILLEGAL to redistribute plugins without the express permission of the plugin author.

NEVER download a plugin or plugin pack from anywhere but from this forum.

Hmm - that's all very well until you find that many of the links to some plug-ins off this Forum do not work and the packages do not contain all that they say they do.

I found a tutorial on this board that showed me how to get text into a circle using the Polar Transformation plug-in.  I found this listed in the author's multipack but it actually was Polar Inversion and then various links off the author's website did not work either.  Finally I did find this plug-in on the <external site>.

No, EER removed that link for a reason.

The links in EER's plugin index work.  Use that if all else fails.

Getting the correct plugin is not worth getting a virus or supporting lawbreaking, and we will not be posting those links in this forum.

One is not above the law simply because the thing they're looking for is not easy to find.  This is not a matter of life and death.

The Doctor: There was a goblin, or a trickster, or a warrior... A nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
Amy: But how did it end up in there?
The Doctor: You know fairy tales. A good wizard tricked it.
River Song: I hate good wizards in fairy tales; they always turn out to be him.

Now it may well be that there is a sticky that advises me to go to the index you suggest, but if like many, I come to this Forum off the Paint.Net Help tab as a one-off visitor, such a sticky is not obvious and I am left to find what I want by any means that comes to mind.

I have used Paint.net for photo processing only till now and as such have found my own way to do so.  I now have a need to manipulate text for a totally different application and turned to the Paint.net forum for assistance.  I went to the page on Tutorials and found this one

The procedure called up a plug-in called Polar Transformation by Madjik.  The download link on the tutorial didn't work, a visit to Madjik page found a collection that stated it included Polar Transformation, but when loaded into Effects only Polar Inversion was there. Download links on Madjik's page to the plug-in I wanted didn't work, so what was I to do but go back to Google and do a search.

Now you are giving me a ticking off here for downloading from elsewhere and implying I am breaking the law, but then very forum that you are moderating would seem to be so full of broken links, faulty downloads and lack of guidance to the novice user that I do have to query its value for the likes of me.

I now have a recommendation from Pyrochild for 'Circle Text' from DPY, but am having the same problem of trying to obtain a working download of a single plug-in and not a collection of 50 or so, 49 of which I don't want!

I will explore your recommendation of the plug-in index and hope that will solve my requirement.  As I said at the beginning I do hope that the error was mine in missing the guidance to this index - otherwise the irritation that comes through this post will be more than valid.

The Plugin Index is stickied in the plugin section of the forum.  What more do you suggest we do?

The tutorial was posted in 2009 when the forum was hosted at another site. I've updated the links in the tutorial to point to the correct location(s).

Polar Inversion is included in MadJik's plugin pack - you didn't find it because you were looking in thew wrong menu. Look under Effect > Distort.  MadJik states this in the thread where you found his plugin pack.

No one accused you of anything. We pointed out that the offender is doing something illegal and advised you to get your plugins here.

If you find a broken link please let me know via PM or post a message in the same thread.  Like all the Mods and Admins here I'm a volunteer - I donate my time to try and assist.  I generally fix broken links within 24 hours of being notified.

Download @dpy's plugin pack and unzip it. Copy the file named CircleText.dll into your paint.NET/Effects folder. Delete the rest of the files - although that's a shame because @dpy has some excellent plugins in there.

i am also having problems with these plugins. none are working for my paint. i have put them in properly and nothing shows up. tho if you look on youtube. people have like 15 options with arrows under the effects selection. i have my regular 7 and nothing changed. all i really want to do is curve my text in a half circle.

mike3232, I'm not sure how that's relevant to this thread.

well i have been reading this thread and it seems people are having problems with plugins not working and so they take them from another place. i am saying that none of the plugins i have tried also do not work? so maybe i could be told why they do not work?

Post your problem along with a screenshot of your Paint.NET/Effects folder and your Effects menu in a new thread in the Troubleshooting forum.  That's where you'll get your best results.  :-)
