How to remove holes in a selection?

For example I have my Minecraft skin that I would like to cut out from the background

When I select different parts of it with Ctrl pressed and the magic wand I still can have parts that are hard to select or small parts that did not select properly

When I cut it out this is the result (the thin strips are left behind)

Is there a way to select these lines (at least the ones that are inside the parts of a selection, like eyes in this case) with a plugin or some other method?

If you simply want to cut the image from the background, you can do this via https://www.remove.bg/

Try increasing the Tolerance of the magic wand a few percent. You can even do this after the selection is made (and still active).

To clean up the unselected bits use the Ctrl key with other selection tools.
Ctrl+Rectangle Select works well with the image that you posted.
