Missing PaintDotNet_x64_968489591.msi - where can i get it from?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

a friend of mine - 78 years old - crashed his paint.net installation somehow.

Neither an upgrade to 4.3.4 nor an uninstallation does work.

The installer always requests a file named PaintDotNet_x64_968489591.msi

We already tried a lot of installation setups from various previous versions, but the installer always requests the same file for uninstallation.

I tried manually install versions from 4.0.x - 4.3.x to check, if the specific .msi file is deployed, but nothing.

Even versions below 4.0.x, like 3.5.x doesn't work.

But it seems, this missing file must be a file from a >4.x installation, because versions below 4.x are just x86 versions, not x64.

Where can i get it from?

Does anyone have this version and can upload?

Does anyone know the version behind this .msi?

We already tried https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d but this doesn't help.

The paint.net installation isn't shown in the software list, so something already removed the list-entry of that software-list.

I would be very thankful for every hint!

Hello @am1paint and welcome :)

You have to remove every trace of previous installations, via that link you have already tried.

Please try downloading here afterwards:

Your install of Paint.NET has become broken.  Try this tool to clean up the mess:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d

Then, you can try installing Paint.NET again.

He says in his post that he already tried that, and that it didn't help.

If the uninstaller linked above truly does not work, try using Revo Uninstaller*. Other users have found this sometimes works.

Alright, started using the fix-tool vom Microsoft again and selected varios fix-modes within the tool and finally the old paint.net installation gets removed, so we could re-install the 4.3.4.

Thanks in advance, just curious why this doesnt work yesterday.

Stay healthy! :)
