DWC121 Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 For about 10-14 days I have not been able to update paint.net. I'm currently using Version 4.2.8. Clicking on "Settings>>Updates>>Check Now>>Install" starts the download but then I get the following two line error message: There was an error while checking for updates There was an error decompressing the download I searched the forum but I didn't find any posts related to this. Makes me wonder if it is only my computer. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium. Thanks - David Quote

Rick Brewster Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 Yeah it's actually an installation bug that I fixed in 4.2.10 (IIRC). (it's not the update's fault, i.o.w.). Only happens on Win7, as far as I was able to tell. Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
Rick Brewster Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 Also, since you're on 4.2.8+, you can run PdnRepair in an even easier manner: 1. Right click on the Start button and click on Run (or just press WinKey + R) 2. Type or copy+paste this in and then press enter: paintdotnet:/repair Quote The Paint.NET Blog: https://blog.getpaint.net/ Donations are always appreciated! https://www.getpaint.net/donate.html
DWC121 Posted July 8, 2020 Author Posted July 8, 2020 Thanks Rick (and null54). I thought it was an operational problem. That's why I posted where I did 😊. 1 Quote
