oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm trying to make a transparent signature, which is giving me hell and frustration beyond everything. I found a how to vid on you tube. The youtuber uses the magic wand and the background disappears (saves to png afterwards). However mine turns black (of course) (?) Does anyone have any idea why my background doesn't disappear? Quote
BoltBait Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 When saving as png, make sure to choose a "bit depth" of "auto detect". Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 So, these are options which should occur when i "save as"? They don't seem to pop up here. Quote
Pixey Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Hello @oysyvert and Welcome When you remove the background and then want to Save your image, when you first go to 'Save As' you will get a window like this: Are you sure your original saved image is not transparent? When you view it later, in a photo viewer it will take on the background color, which can be confusing. If you saved your image to .png, then try to import it again into Paint. net. If it's transparent the ' checker boxes' will show up surrounding the image, which means it is indeed transparent. oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Hi, and thank you for quick response. So, when i use the magic wand the white paper background disappears, and get replaced by a black background. I save to PNG, and open it again in getpaint - still black background(?) Quote
oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Also, when i save as - i don't get the same box as you with those options. Quote
Pixey Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 I'll do you a quick video of what I do - hang in there Quote How I made Jennifer & Halle in Paint.net My Gallery | My Deviant Art "Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that animal their world is changed forever!" anon.
Pixey Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Herewith the video - I hope it helps you Also, are you sure you don't have another layer switched on? In my video I uncheck the background layer first. oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 For some reason i don't have those options under "effects" as you have(?) Quote
BoltBait Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Right, because she is showing you how to use a plugin. https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/112400-kill-color-keeper-v-12/ You can download the plugin here: Quote Download: BoltBait's Plugin Pack | CodeLab | and a Free Computer Dominos Game
oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 Ok, so how do i launch it on to my application? I have dowloaded both of these links (not sure which of them is the right one). I tried to drag them over into the app icon, but that doesn't work. Tried double clicking them(??) Quote
Pixey Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 You have downloaded the wrong thing (script) ....... you need to go down further the page to the big download button. Here is how to save Plugins: http://boltbait.com/pdn/InstallingEffects.php P.S. Sorry I confused you in the video ..... as I did not use the magic wand, instead using a plugin. oysyvert Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 According to the "how to" i should get an option called "properties" when i right click the icon - i don't. (?) Any ideas? Ps. really appreciate your efforts. Tnx. I hope i can can this done. Quote
Pixey Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Try this ....... save the Zip file and extract. You will see the .dll. Go to C:// Program Files/ Paint.net/Effects and put the .dll into Effects. oysyvert Posted August 22, 2018 Author Posted August 22, 2018 I've tried finding the application under c://program files.. but it isn't there. Also when i try to search it up under C:// it finds some things with paint.net in it, but not the actual program file. Quote
oysyvert Posted August 22, 2018 Author Posted August 22, 2018 I think i'll go for plan b, which is getting my 10-yr old iMac from my basement and do it via PS. Thanks anyway for all help:) Quote
Ego Eram Reputo Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Sounds like you have installed the Store version. You need to create some folders and drop the extracted DLL file into one of the new folders.
