wisnij
I know that if I have image data in the clipboard, then when creating a new image via File > New... the size of the new blank canvas in paint.net will be equal to the size of the copied image. However, when first starting up paint.net, the blank canvas that opens is always 800x600 regardless of what I have in the clipboard. Is there any way to make that size-matching behavior happen on startup as well? That would really streamline what for me is by far the most common use case of the application. HyReZ
I just click on New and paste the copied image into it. It only takes a second.

You can make fixed-size templates, but there is no facility to dynamically adjust the canvas size on startup. The workarounds from @HyReZ and @toe_head2001 are your simplest solutions. Great avatar!!
