Just asking as someone posted that the alphamask plugin wouldn't work for them and they were using PDN 3.5.9. Not sure about updating as I use this plugin a lot and would be lost without it.

Sfifer - nice sig, clean and crisp and good flow TheHowler - Your best yet but still you have empty areas the same could be said for sfifers as well but the empty white areas on his seem to flow with the sig. Sfifer wins. Sfifer - 1 TheHowler - 0

Hi AGJM I also tried that helio sig and came up with my own way to make the cresent thingy. 1. New project fill background in black make new layer and draw a white filled circle. 2. Using the ellipse select on the white circle layer make a circle selection smaller than the white circle and then use the move selection tool to position it closer to one edge. 3. Hit CRL+X to delete it 4. Run gaussian blur on white circle layer I cant remember how much I blurred it probably around the 10-15px 5. Then using the blue arrow click on the image and squash it upusing one of the side nubs.

Did this took 5 mins max using alphamask, so if this is what you want I can do a better version and take more time?. Had to remove her left hand as it looked deformed. No matter how long you take and how careful you are, you will never get as good results as you do with alphamask. I should know as I refused to learn alphamasking for months and continued with eraser and magic wand thinking I was getting quicker and better, then I used alphamask for the first time and have never gone back. Maybe someone here knows why the alphamask plugin I linked you to wont work ?

Now you have said that all I can see is the chain going back and forwards it was fine before

Your best bet is to get the Alphamask plugin check this thread out. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/22757-psd-render-help/ If you like I can do it for you, but I feel you should atleast give it a go yourself first.

My latest sigs most still W.I.P The deus ex ones are inspired by the howlers attempts and the last Resistance 3 one is the first sig I have done with both a render and c4ds. All renders for Resistance 3 ones were made by me.

Would like to see the original version as well for comparison, by the way pdn has smudge tool it is a plugin so try looking through the plugin index. Sorry can't link you to it as I am posting this from my PS3.

TFPrime use this plugin Alphamask. Find your pic on google and copy and paste it into PDN then open a layer above (Name this mask ) and draw round your subject with the line and paintbrush tool ( you may find this easier if you zoom in try and keep the line inside of your image rather than going over ) once you have a complete outline fill it in with the paint bucket tool. Now a mask needs to be black or white to work so now with the mask layer selected go to the adjustments menu and choose hue/saturation and move the lightness slider all the way to the left and your red mask should go black. I have deselected the original layer so you can see the mask. You should now have 2 layer the original one and one with a black silhouette on it with this layer selected press CTRL-A followed by CTRL-C then deselect this layer and click on your image layer, now go to effects>alphamask and run it you may need to invert the mask by clicking on the box. You should get this Yes there can be occasions when its easier to just use magic wand or eraser but this will give you the best results.

Rather than trying to match the other 2 to the 1 you have already done start again and do all 3 with hue/saturation.

Makes me laugh there are more people posting here than on the sig battles, oh well. By the way I wasn't having a go at welshy but he did come on to a sig battle discussion thread to moan about something else ( a matter already resolved by the way or so people thought) Maybe he should of posted in the rants thread. No matter how you spin it it was quite obvious what you meant by your "I'm not sure I like this place anymore"

Why not just make your own renders, its not that hard.

@Welshy , go back and read your posts you are the one who has a bee in his bonnet about people not visiting the galleries, get over it. You may be easy going ( and a great artist )but it also seems you need a lot of gratification to make you happy, just my observation. Like I said do you write letters thanking all the artists who have recorded the albums that you listen to or thanking the directors of all the films you enjoy ? And as for the " we have a board for galleries " that still doesn't mean people are obliged to look and comment on the work, you know why the galleries are here from the previous thread I mentioned and of which the parties involved agreed to stop mentioning lack of votes in said galleries. If you want to leave here as you don't enjoy it leave but don't make threats, its one of the lamest things you can do and you are better than that.

You seem to take things to heart a bit much, I have 463 views in my gallery and 9 posts, 3 of which are me I think and it really doesn't bother me. A gallery is for you to show your work , you shouldn't then get upset if people are not commenting on it they never asked for you to display your work. As for being hypocritical I don't think so, there have been a few of us quite active in sig battles but suddenly has gone quiet, the galleries are always going to be quiet not everybody feels adequate enough to comment and some just dont feel the need to. When I watch a great film or listen to an amazing album I dont get in touch with the persons responsible to thank them, Do you ? why should viewing a gallery on a support forum be so different. Like I said this has come up before and most of the people who were upset agreed with the mod when he stated the above why start this up again ?

I think its a little harsh to come onto the sig discussion thread to criticise people for not posting in the galleries, they are 2 different things. Sigs dont take too long and you get real criticism and feedback from the battles which helps to increase your knowledge of PDN. To be brutally honest the galleries are too PC for me every post is the same " Wow amazing work " even if it isn't, yes I know its not nice to knock a new user back but its also not good to reply to every gallery with praise its a bit like schools sportsday without winners and losers. Also as has been bought up before in a thread about the lack of user input on galleries, this is a support forum not the most ideal place to host your work if you want constant action in your gallery, maybe there are better places for them.

Come on guys get voting these battles are going on for days........................................................................we should be getting through a lot more.

Also remember fine adjustments can be made by using the arrow keys on the keyboard.

Another tough one Thanks for posting the renders guys, were they both pre cut for you ? I will take it as yes. Feel that NMDs placement and size of render was good but it was blurred way too much, infact I doubt anyone outside of the gaming community would realise it was the nanosuit from crysis. The howlers render also includes a lot of background with it, meaning that the right hand side is quite simple, the image/render posted over a gradient maybe. Also the focus of the render is too small or the sig is too big whatever way you look at it. Backgrounds both look simple but feel that NMD probably was more inspired and as stated above the right hand side of Howlers sig is the render. Colouring/Lighting is good in both and work well so even there. I suppose I will have to give it to NMD but soo close. Ninjamandan 1 TheHowler 0

Rooking I like yours very well done but render sigs are not really my thing The Howler I should hate yours due to the pixelation but I dont I find it fits the image well and its also feels imaginative. Hmm hardest one yet but for thinking a little out of the box I am going with The Howler. Rooking 1 The Howler 2 (just glad I didn't have to cast the winninmg vote )
