  1. Use whatever zoom level works best for you or is most comfortable to work with. I would use a zoom of 600% to make a zone of selection at the edge of the blossoms, then zoom out to add to the selection in the interior of the blossoms. ========================================================== There are other ways of cutting out the blossoms and stems. This tutorial shows a way to use the Line / Curve tool to draw an enclosed area on a separate layer that can be used with the Magic Wand to make the selection.
  2. Duplicate the line art layer. Press F4 and set the Blending Mode of the upper layer to Multiply. Merge the two layers.
  3. Save a canvas image like one of these: http://enchantedgal-stock.deviantart.com/art/Canvas-Texture-White-Paper-49362478 http://www.homespunfabrics.com/img/fabrics/10.5ozNaturalCanvas.jpg Import it into a layer above your Granddaughter's picture. Layers > Import From File... Press F4 on the keyboard, change the Blending Mode to Overlay or whatever mode you prefer. Adjust the Opacity slider. ====================================================== Here's a canvas texture in a forum post:
  4. Yes, it's free unless you choose to pay for the premium version. The free version works well for me.
  5. Open the Save As... dialogue. Name the file and choose the filetype, press Enter. The Save Configuration dialogue should come up: http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5290/saveconfiguration01.png
  6. File > Save As... After you click on Save, a Save Configuration dialogue comes up.
  7. ipswichmanc, The reason it said the file was too big is because of total size limits imposed by the forum on attachments. Save your image as PNG, then instead of posting it as an attachment, upload it to an image hosting site like: http://imageshack.us/ Copy the Direct Link URL provided by the image hosting site, and paste it in your forum post, using the Full Editor mode. To make it a thumbnail, drag the mouse across the URL that you just pasted to highlight it, and click: Other styles > Thumbnail ----------------------------------- To post it as a non-thumbnail image: Highlight the Direct Link URL, then click on the icon that looks like this:
  8. This search will work better for that search. gif http://www.getpaint.net/search.html
  9. StarbucksNationalPark http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/8144/starbuxnationalpark01a.png Stock Stock Edited to fix stock links.
  10. Make a new (transparent) layer. Add the color where you want it. Press F4, set Blending Mode to Multiply, and adjust Opacity slider. ================================== You can use the Line / Curve tool to make an enclosed area on a separate new layer. Use the Magic Wand to make a selection within that area. Fill the selection with color on a different layer. This will give you straighter, smoother lines on the selection. The outline layer can be deleted or made not visible before saving.
  11. Yes. You have to install them in the Effects folder of the portable installation.
  12. Try this to see if it moves things in the direction that you want. 1) Adjustments > Hue / Saturation Saturation --- 125 =========================== 2) Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast Contrast --- 25 =========================== 3) Adjustments > Posterize Setting of 2 to 4 Linked

  16. As a first step, crop your oversize image to the correct aspect ratio. In the Tools window, click on the Rectangle Select tool. In the toolbar, change Normal to Fixed Ratio, and set Width to 504 and Height to 104. Make and position a rectangular selection, then crop to selection. Image > Crop to Selection Next, resize down to 504x104 with Maintain Aspect Ratio checked. If you make a new image from scratch, starting with a canvas that has the correct aspect ratio will simplify things when resizing.

  20. Using Google search was no help. Can you explain what IFV is?
  21. As a work-around you can type until you have as much text as you want on a line, then switch to a different tool momentarily before restarting the Text tool one line space down. It is a good practice to always make a new (transparent) layer to put your text on, rather than adding it directly to the white background layer. It makes it easier to adjust the text later, should you need to. This has nothing to do with your current difficulty, however.
  22. Yes. You have to stop before it goes too far, and press Enter to drop to the next line. Or prep it in a word-processor and copy it into Paint.NET as an image.
