New user; scanner dialog questions
pdnnoob replied to Orthoducks's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
At least with my scanner, this is a setting on the scanner itself and not something I can access from my computer. -
If you did it right, you'll be able to open .psd files with paint.net

How to "bend" a texture I made around a point.
pdnnoob replied to Rigas's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
My first thoughts went to this tutorial. Particularly steps 14-16 and 20-27 -
To change to transparent to opaque, set your primary and secondary colors to transparent.
-
Confirmed.
-
Ah. Nope it won't. Didn't realize you were on XP Sorry! What Goonie is saying is you can use the gradient tool set to transparency mode as an eraser, or at least as a way of softening edges of your eraser marks. Like this:
-
Use the v4.0 Beta version and adjust the eraser hardness. Otherwise there's either this tutorial or you can lower the color opacity

Well since you've found what you needed and this is an old topic and there is a forum rule (rule 11) about necroposting...

What are your most used plugins?
pdnnoob replied to Drydareelin's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Basic AntiAlias, AA's Assistant, Grim Color Reaper, Align Object, Smudge, Liquify, Outline Object, Trail, Tr's Edge Fader, and Transparency -
To the link just above your post.

I had to go do a bunch of research to figure out what you're talking about. Not everyone knows what "australium" means because it's unique to tf (Team Fortress for those who don't know). And even in the tf community, there are people who haven't the slightest idea who fiveeyes is. So for future reference, use pictures to explain this kind of thing. Anyhow, there are several tutorials on chrome textures on this forum. This one and this one illustrate the basic idea behind giving objects a chrome finish. Depending on your object, this plugin may be a helpful tool. What in the...is this English!? ;P

How do I highlight/increase visibility of a color?
pdnnoob replied to blickbox's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Ah I see. In that case, there is the Conditional Hue/Saturation plugin that worked pretty well when I tried it. Set Hue range to about (280 to 20), Hue action to none, and Saturation adjustment to 200 -
How do I highlight/increase visibility of a color?
pdnnoob replied to blickbox's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
As long as the rocks are relatively gray like that, you can simply increase the color saturation to make the colored paint stand out. (Adjustments>Hue/Saturation or hotkey: ctrl+shift+u) EDIT: The shadows are a bit more difficult, and how you go about reducing them depends on the purpose. -
From what I can tell, you're on the wrong forum. This thread is about a plugin that allows paint.net to import svg files (a vector graphics filetype) If you want to change your raster image to vectors, Inkscape has the tools for it. Open up your image in inkscape, select it, and go to "Path>Trace Bitmap..." (hotkey: ctrl+shift+b ). This will give you a menu of options to choose from. Play around with it until you find a result you like.

Is it possible to change canvas size with an offset?
pdnnoob replied to fixbane's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
This is not something that can be altered by plugins. However, it is possible to make a plugin to assist in the process. Instead of resizing the canvas (which is out of bounds for plugins), it could fill the area with the primary color. That way, you could run the plugin, use magic wand to select the outside area, then press ctrl+i and ctrl+shift+x. Slightly faster than resizing the canvas twice. -

pdnnoob replied to fixbane's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Use the rectangle selection tool to select the area you wish to crop to, then go to Image>Crop to selection (hotkey: ctrl+shift+x) -
If you use the v4.0 beta, you can adjust the hardness of the eraser. Also, in both v3.5 and v4.0, you can adjust the transparency of the eraser by changing your color transparency. The other options, however, are not available in paint.net as of now. See the Popular Feature Requests thread for details.

fitting/stretching images/text to fit circle
pdnnoob replied to cowo's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
If you're just looking for circles, there's this plugin Otherwise, the easiest way I know to make something like that is to sketch it on paper, scan it in, then trace it with bezier curves. -
Here's what I've got: Hidden Content: Part 1: Prepping the environment 1. Add a new layer 2. Turn off the visibility of the background layer 3. Go to image>canvas size (hotkey: ctrl+shift+r) and increase the image width. The video suggests 2000 pixels, but it depends on the length of your word/phrase Part 2: The text 1. Add text with the text tool. Make sure you put a space between each character. 2. Pull out your magic wand selection tool and set tolerance to 60-69% and, holding shift, click on a letter. 3. Pick a primary and secondary color for your gradient, then, again holding shift, click and drag from the top of a letter to the bottom. 4. Deselect (hotkey: ctrl+d or esc or enter) Part 3: Effects 1. Run pyrochild's Outline Object plugin (Effects>Object>Outline Object). Set the color to white, width to 10, and softness to around 240. 2. Run the Drop Shadow plugin (Effects>Object>Drop Shadow). Set the widening radius to 1, blur radius to 1 or 2, and shadow color to black (or gray). Part 4: Moving the letters Before we continue, I'd like to apologize to kaunas163, as I'm going to make some changes to this part. The method used in the video leaves pixelated transparent outlines around the letters where they overlap which I'm going to guess wasn't the intent. 1. Add two new layers 2. Select your first letter using the rectangle selection tool, cut (ctrl+x) and paste (ctrl+v) it onto the bottom new layer. Move it around as you please (right click and drag to rotate) 3. Select the next letter and cut and paste it to the top new layer, again moving it as you see fit. 4. Merge the top layer down 5. Add a new layer 6. Repeat steps 3-5 on the remaining letters. Done! I tried to keep things in same order as the video so hopefully you can follow along there. Good luck!

So uh why does the clone stamp tool move?
pdnnoob replied to Question's topic in Paint.NET Discussion and Questions
Try the Custom Brushes Mini plugin.
