  1. Wouldn't it be much easier to cut the face, paste it in a new layer and then merge the layer down? Then you'd have your selection moved and have just one layer. I mean, it only takes two more seconds  Besides the only way to counteract the overlapping alpha values is by making a precise cutout. But that's why I recommend doing the first step
  2. @Topezia---I remember way back when you started that. I like it. I especially like the effect you gave the water and the pebbles. Nicely done -------------- I got etched on a cave wall: (The cave background/lighting effect is really where I focus the "realistic" point. I'm always confused as to whether caricatures and comical characters are considered realistic or abstract :x ) Maybe someone back then had a premonition?
  3. @Ash---My view of prehistoric Earth has gone all skewy ---------------- Hey! Someone's etched me on a cave wall! I'm planning a short comic featuring this little guy to discover exactly what went on in prehistoric cave pictures. Maybe. It might be a one-shot comic because I tend to get really busy and then forget completely But I've started something, so at least you'll get that
  4. Shouldn't the rotate/zoom aspect be good enough for this (ctrl+shft+z)? Just changed the angle as needed.
  5. I'm not really sure if I understand what you mean..... Perhaps you can post an image so we can help you more. Oh, and make sure you read the forum rules: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3446 Specifically #6, before the mods go after you
  6. @janettsue--I like the improvements I like those butterflies too --------- Took a shot at a PSD tut conversion (Didn't really read the tut per se; I just looked at the pictures )> Everything looked good until the very last step where I had to shape it like an apple. I tried a combo of bulge/power stretch, but this is the best result I could make (which is why the highlights on the top looked stretched). The shape's not really "appley", but I like its smooth appearance:
  7. @BB00---That looks really realistic (for lack of better word choice)! Cool @Oma---I like those fairy wings you have there. I'm guessing Random Shape Fill + S3D/other distort  Looks like it coulda made an awesome disco ball too ---------- A little cave etching. And yes, I know the text looks weird.
  8. Can't figure out why I think this is fitting for October Anyway....update
  9. @LFC4EVER+welshblue---yeah, I see what you mean regarding the background. I guess I just instinctively chose white because my previous attempt had a plain black BG. Next time I go back to fix it I'll switch it to a gradient perhaps.... BTW welshblue, I like those glass attempts. I see where your going with the inside of those letters being blurred, but I think glass would only distort the stuff behind it only slightly
  10. Hmmm... I tried glass text again. And this time I actually know what I did
  11. Well usually, I tend to checkmark the "True Feather" option, since it seems to work more effectively in most circumstances (depends on the case). But sometimes, it doesn't work. Then I'd just use line/curve tool over the jagged lines. In your case, I'd just outline them again using the ellipse tool or the outline object plugin
  12. I like your glassy ladybugs and that butterfly But remember, feather is your friend
  13. Thanks for the comment And yes, I think I will give your gallery a little visit
  14. Hmm... Guess you're right about the light rays. Didn't think about doing it that way though. Thanks
  15. I missed quite a lot haven't I? Lemme start by commenting on stuff from the prev page: @Crimson--Liking the battery! It's vexel-like @BB00--Cool flaming text I especially like the flames at the base @Oma--It almost looks like super-realistic cabbage Pity you were unable to recreate it @Purple proximus-- Nicely done. Nice blurring on the skin. But perhaps you should do something on the hat? It's kinda just bleak black  ------------- Underwater scene. This time it's not just an abstract (people who've been on long enough will understand the reference to the other "underwater" piece ) I really like the texture I made for the ground.
  16. First day of Fall update! Perhaps the ground texture can be used for something else?
  17. Thanks HELEN Yeah, I've been on a bit of a roll these couple of weeks. Ironic, since I never usually think of things However, that's the last of my summer batches I don't know if I'll have time to make more. If I do, they'll probably be a bit lower in quality... Ah well. Maybe I'll come up with something. Soon.
  18. Those are essentially the same thing. At least, I'm pretty sure they are. I've got two of those by accident
  19. Well, when you merge layers down the top layer inherits the layer properties of the layer underneath it. Say for example you have a layer with an opacity of 199 and blending mode on Reflect. Then you have a layer above it with an opacity of 100 and blending mode on glow. If you merge those layers together, the stuff on the top layer will match the properties of the bottom layer (the stuff on the second layer will have an opacity of 199 instead of 100) If you flatten an image, you keep the distinct layer properties of each layer. In other words, flattening the layer flattens the image the way it looks on the canvas. EDIT: Ash Beat Me.
  20. New release time! Even if you don't know Torchwood, I think the interface is quite good eye candy XD Also, if I forgot to mention this, thanks for all the comments Seems the Soda Glass is by far my most popular piece
  21. It's not a problem of slow/fast computer per se, but large PNG files take time to load. I mean, JPEGs load faster than PNGs, but you lose quality Hence, the recommendation to use thumbnails Besides, scrolling through big images is just time consuming As for top quality... well, that's why thumbnails can be clickable to view the full size
  22. @LFC4EVER----Thanks, and glad you like Yes, it was indeed inspired by the PSD tut when it was first published a long way back, and I actually started it back then but didn't have much time to finish it until now. And yeah, I sorta noticed that the top isn't too glassy, which I fixed by blurring and lowering the opacity of the top spot a bit more (I think the side with the fruit demonstrates an eample). Also fixed the fruit @HELEN---Soda Glass! That's the word I was looking for Yes, indeed. I do not drink. It's only soda. Really. Fruit fix and glassy fix: Oh, and I forgot to add this into the previous post. TARDIS (Doctor Who) Interface Screen:
  23. Try searching for "Wet Floor Reflection"
