  1. There a tutorial on the forums. Just do a search for it and you should be able to find it. I found when searching tutorials only. It was the 3rd one on the list.
  2. yup. Are you sure you clicked View unanswered posts under the last visit message and above the board index link ?
  3. Run Paint.NET. Then press F1 on your keyboard. You will find help for all Paint.NET tools in there.
  4. No I browsed for it but it really isnt there, I had one of those expert people work on the comp real fast through the desktop sharing where he controls, and he himself browesed and couldnt find it, either he sucks or it really isnt there. He directed me to winzip lol ah I see. Well he could not find it because it not a .exe but a .dll. Inorder to fix it now you would have find a patch or edit the settings for it in the registry. Lets not go into any of that as editing the registry could lead to problems that could do harm to your system. Just keep using WinZIP or WinRAR.
  5. compressed (zipped) folder is still on your system. It comes with the OS. You just need to browse for it thats all. Anyway glad you got it fixed.
  6. Your referring to my comment about how I have seen a change in attitude of Plugin makers over the few years compaired to when I came here back in 2005 ? Yes to me it seems that Plugin makers are not as welling to share there knowledge and work with each other. I am not saying it the case for all of them or that it happens all the time. But it does happen. Pyro I think you miss read something here. No one is telling you how to program. Take it from me, if someone told me that I should not program using Select Case statements and I should only use IF statements instead. I would tell them I will do Select Case whenever I feel that it would be good to use over IF statements and if you don't like it to bad as long as the program does what is need and how it is needed. However what I am trying to encourage and what I think Mike is trying to encourage is more openness on the whole open source thing. I am sorry I can't help but feel the last part of that was pointed at Mike and myself. I hope it was not as saying we don't know how to program is an uncalled for and untrue. I am not sure what Mike is doing but from the sounds of it he is learning to program. I know for a fact I am doing programing one language at a time along with networking. I don't know anything of Simon's question and it is not why I am posting. What I do know is that the vast majority are human. People always like to learn things. It is why we have curasity as the mind likes to learn. I bet if members had the time and resources and knew they could learn a programing language that they would. Pyro I only pointed out things in your post to explain what I would like to see and what I believe you have miss read or got the wrong impression from me on. I like to point out once again what I said in my last post as it implys here as well. I am not looking for a fight or trying to attack anyone. I feel I must put that in here so you can see my intent as to me your post seemed to be along the lines of an attack. I am not sure and I guessing it only seems that way as you were angry when you worte it. I am sure you did not mean it to come of like that. Lets keep this a mature debate if anything. no rocks flying, name calling, or putting people down. We are all friends here and lets keep it that way . Edit: For some reason I used the word understatment in a place it did not belong and removed it / rephase it. Don't know why but it may of had something to do with the fact that I was typeing this while taking to a group of friends on ventrilo .
  7. Ok I did a little video for ya. I set Paint.NET to try and open ZIP files and you will see how you change file types to be open by other programs. In the video I change the ZIP file type to be open with a ZIP program instead of Paint.NET. Changing What Program Opens ZIP Files
  8. umm no. A mod is a term used for a moderator. Which is a member who was given powers to delete, move, or lock a user, user topic, post, ect. You may want to read the rules and the numbers I said in my last post. Ok for some reason you have told Paint.NET to open compress files. So for now we will try and to open the ZIP file and then we will try to tell another program made for opening ZIP files to open any other ZIPs you may download. So right-click on the .ZIP file and go to open with and then click Compressed (Zipped) Folder. That will let you open the ZIP file.
  9. Paint.NET can only open image files. So are you saying the Unfreez program is opening Paint.NET ? You may also want to rename this topic as a mod will more then likely close your topic for breaking rule #6. I think they will let you off with a warning for rule #25.
  10. Anyone else get the SQL database error when they click View unanswered posts above Board Index ? I get it anytime I click it so I am guessing Forumer does not know they got a bad SQL table in the forums database or a bad line of code in the php document.
  11. I understand were your coming from as it something that I hate as well and is the reason I don't go to the plugin part of the forums or even try making plugins myself (Besides I have no idea what kind of Plugin to make as I only do simple image editing that MS Paint could do). No I don't got C# yet and will not even look at it till I get my java which wont be long from now. However I do got my VB.NET and there is a template out there for me to use VB.NET to make Plugins for Paint.NET last I looked. But what the point if help is going to be super hard to get. I don't know what Rick got done in Paint.NET so I would need to go through the code like I was reading a book (I may have sometime on my hands but not that much) were as some documentation would get me through it faster. If I get stuck or want to know how someone did some other cool effect as it may hold a key to something I am trying to do it would be nice to get help from that plugin maker. Now that how I look at the matter and why I don't try to make plugins. How many other people out there think somewhat like that ? I am sorry but I really like the true idea of open source. Were it was not just about a program being free (Could do that with out calling it open source) but about it sharing it's code with other coders so they could learn together. That why so many open source projects have members who are always giving out there code and how to's to make it better for others to learn from. Lets get this on record as some people tend to think this for some reason. I am not saying all plugin makers should be forced to give out there source code. So get that out of your head. I can understand why you don't want to give it out, you worry about things like people taking credit for your work or using your code to do a better job on your work. I not going into this part with anymore detail as I know I will be flamed when I start listing why I think that not going to be to big of a problem. Something about what has been said does bug me. Most open source I see don't like to limit there users but like them to work together. They keep update information such as the code locked away untill the program is ready to go out and then they release the code. But I never heard of open source picking who should be able to get help and who should not. I getting the impression that this is being done as I read through this topic and read of a forum that only a handfull of plugin makers can see and use for giving help on there plugins. How does that help a new guy who wants to do Plugins ? Don't you think that all of that should be public for all to benefit from ? Even people who don't program may find it useful. I know a guy right now who can learn anything in no time just by looking at it and I am sure there people here just like that. That also like the thing about PM's. I read it here that some Plugin makers will PM there help then post it. That great who does not like getting one on one help. However (sorry) it seems limiting again as now it only one person getting help and Plugin makers can pick who they want to give help to. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now don't hold that post against me. I am not going after anyone, I only like this to be coder friendly. I like everyone here and I always try to give a helping hand were I can. Reason I am telling you that is because I don't want to get on anyones bad side and lose any friendships with any members here. I sorry if you take what I said the wrong way or think I am trying to hurt you. I am not and if you feel that way just know that it was not inteded. To be truthful I am starting to think I should not post my opinion on this matter as I don't want hard feeling from anyone. If anyone feels that my post is attacking them or something I will remove it ! as I rather lose a post then a friend. PS: Sorry if there any miss spellings as I got to go and don't got time to proof read it. Knowing me there a lot in there.
  12. What ? Works the way it should to me. When starting Paint.NET it makes an image by default called background and that is why it asks if you like to add it as a layer or open it. When you open it the background will be replace by the image. When added as a layer it will do just that. So I don't see this being a error.
  13. ... did you try the 2.0 or did you only try the 3.5. The reason I siad to try 2.0 was because of the last guy that was here. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=22228 His problem was that he never had a FULL 3.0 Framework and it needed to talk to 2.0 for information. If Paint.NET only needs 2.0 then you should install 2.0 only untill you rule out that it is not the version of the .NET Framework or some dumb error like a higher .NET Framework needing to talk to a lower .NET Framework. Also why is this called Re-Downloading Troubles. This problem is install. You only need to download Paint.NET once, unzip it and run the exe. Samething with the .NET Framework.
  14. I am guessing your on Windows XP 32-bit as you have not told me. Anyway as pyro said download and install the .NET Framework 2.0 if you have not before trying to install Paint.NET. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en You will find it on that page. Download and install it then try to install Paint.NET.
  15. Nope not at you at all. It just something I been seeing and is why i stay out of the plugin area. No one said it not enough but that it would be more helpful. I enjoy plugins and I always like to see new ones. I got a feeling that some plugin code could be very helpful in the making of new plugins. I doing programing and so far every app I have done I have let people see my code for it. Matter a fact if anyone takes VB.NET online at my college they may see my code in the student zone. I will be doing Java real soon and I got a feeling I will be the same way with that. Ture and I understand you want people to give you credit and not some low down code taker. But this is the real Paint.NET forums and website so I see more people downloading plugins they find here then looking for them on the net. Oh well pyro it up to you and the other plugin makers what you do with your code. I just think it be nice to see the good old days were programers gave out there out to help other programers. I don't know there was something about it that made it feel "friendly" to me. I guess I am just use to that kind of stuff were I live.
  16. Didn't work how. Your not giving us enough information on your errors. If you can we need to know how it did not install, error messages, your specs, what you were doing, version numbers, ect... Can't fix something with out knowing what wrong with it. The only thing we can do is take guess at what stops Paint.NET from installing. No .NET Framework, It already installed, was not uninstall but deleted, another program is killing it, Specs are no good for it, .... and the list goes on. This is why you need to give as much detail on your errors as you can. Should have that posted somewere in here telling people to give as much detail as they can and pined it.
  17. If I remember right. When plugins started up around here at the begining 99% of them had the code given out with them for other programers. It was very helpful to as it ment that more programers could learn from other programers code and make nice plugins for Paint.NET. Now it seems like Plugin programers are out to get one another . I say come off it Paint.NET is free and Rick gives out the code for free. Why can't plugin makers do the same ? If anyone was going to take your plugin I got a feeling a Mod would go "Hey that not yours, (delete)" and if anyone could make your plugin better then thats a good thing as long as they talk to you 1st. As for biting newbies ... Well it something I don't try to do and if it seems I am doing it, know this. I am not attacking you newbies, it only seems like that because I am right to the point in most posts. I have not found anyone on this forum that I don't like. Yes I may not agree with you on something but that does not mean I don't like you. My views here are the same as in the real world. Just because we don't agree or you get on my nerves is NOT a good reason to dislike someone.
  18. Have you added layers ? If so then the rectangle select tool is only going to select things in that layer and not any other images in the other layer. Most people use layers for text so once done merge the layers and then use the rectangle select tool.
  19. I suggest reading the rules then. Number 25 deals with bumping and when you may bump.
  20. Downloaded the file and I get the same error in my Paint.NET as well. Does not crash just does not know how to read the .pdn file for some reason. Also no error log. Best thing to do is give as much detail as you can and hope that someone can help you. I have already grab information of the file so I will post what the file tells me. Information on the file: Version of Paint.NET: 3.10.2791.35943 (I going to tell you now that you should have been using 3.22) Width: 4962 height: 3508 layers: 7 File Size: 4.32 MB File Type PDN You may also want to let us know what OS your on. I belive your on XP 32 Bit. I'd like to also make a suggestion to you. Instead of posting that link at the end that has notthing to do with what you posted about. It may be best to just put it in your sig as it could be viewed as advertising or spaming. At least by putting it in your sig it more of a site you like and think others would like then an ad or random spam. Good Luck.
  21. I not sure what the two common errors are for making a boot cd or usb for Paint.NET. I do what what makes the errors as when I did the tutorial I tested Paint.NET on many systems. 1st error is because the computer does not have .NET Framework and the 2nd one is because there is already a install of Paint.NET on the system (not seen much after the copy has been put to cd or usb). So make sure the computer has .NET Framework.
  22. As far as I know Paint.NET only has one toon plugin and I am not sure if it works with the newer versions. You should have posted this there in Plugins and not here. Before you go post anywere else you may want to read the rules: Click Here look at Rule numbers 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 as they will help you with your next post.
  23. No problem this is my favorite part of the forums and I enjoy trying to help people.
  24. The mods will lock topics that are not posted in the right thread. Also demanding help is not going to get you help faster. Posting in the right topic would have saved you time and you would have seen what version the plugin was for.
