Paint.NET v3.22 Beta now available

Recommended Posts

This release fixes a few minor bugs and adds a new, much-needed Reduce Noise effect. You can get it from the website (http://www.getpaint.net/) or via the built-in updater by going to Help -> Check for Updates. (Make sure that "Also check for beta releases" is enabled, by clicking on the "Options" button after clicking the "Check for Updates" menu item).

Changes:

    * New: "Reduce Noise" effect.
    * Changed: Ctrl+W will now close Paint.NET if zero images are open.
    * Fixed: In Windows XP, when launching web content, sometimes Internet Explorer was used instead of the user's chosen default browser.
    * Fixed: Unfocus was not handling alpha values properly.
    * Fixed: Brightness / Contrast adjustment was only displaying its text in English.
    * Fixed: The /auto parameter for the installer now correctly allows for an automated installation. This was inadvertantly broken in 3.20.

Jesus! That was quick :)

Anyways, updating now.

I don't think the installer is working for me....It's been like this for about 10 minutes now.

Is there a lot of CPU or disk activity? Maybe your computer's just bogged down at the moment.

If it still won't budge, attach a zipped up copy of %TEMP%/PdnMsiInstall.log to this thread and I"ll take a look at it.

My computer crashed a few minutes later after I posted that pic, so something was using up a ton of CPU.

I have another complaint, after managing to install it, there are three new shortcuts on my desktop, and I can't even move them, never mind deleting them. Also, if you still have the plug-in Remove Noise (which you downloaded, not with PDN 3.22) it will still be there. I've tried the refresh on the desktop but nothing works, and I seriously don't want to re-boot again.

EDIT: Hmm....I got rid of the icons....somehow....Anyways, why does PDN create three new shortcuts?

OMG that's fast, i was still cooling from 3.20, and now there's an hole new version! Hurray :D !!!

By the way it was Beta releases that were subject of change in the matter of new feautures?

so the question is: What's the probability of Full Screen View and Default Canvas size being added to 3.22?

I had the same problem when using the auto update. Had to kill it with the task manager.

Then I downloaded the zip file.

Moved the remaining files in the paint.NET directory, to the desktop.

And then the installation seams to work OK.

Copied the plugins back.

Paint.NET starts OK.

Happy now.

Is it the auto update that has a bug?

Zero. New feature/work is completed for 3.22, it is simply being tested and bug-fixed and translated now.

Very nice, thank you Rick.

Peculiar as this may seem, I find the content of the installer as pleasing as Paint.NET itself...

4114_34f0dae128809c5fbe68beab836d95abHow funky is that, a little 'what's inside' on the installer. Amazing!

Didn't you implement some code which was to block plugins in this situation, Rick? Ah, found it, from the 3.20b1 release. A bug?

I'm glad you fixed that. I was tired of IE popping up.

It's taking way too long for me, too. It's at the same screen. I'm trying to cancel the update, but it won't close either.

Ok. I was able to download v3.22

I had to plug out my computer cause it was giving problems the first time.

If the installer stalls on you like that, DON'T KILL IT. Instead, make a copy of the file: %TEMP%/PdnMsiInstall.log and send it to me. Otherwise there's absolutely no way for me to figure out why it's stalling on you.

What happened to version 3.21?

+0.01 releases are bug-fix only releases. This update has a new feature, Reduce Noise, and thus must have at least a +0.02 bump.
