Default Color Palette

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to understand the colors in the default palette.

Typically, default palettes are a superset of the historical 16 EGA colors.

However, I can't find things like pure green in Paint.NET's default palette. The closest is (0,255,33) I'm wondering how the 33 came about -- it seems unusual.

This is in 3.50.3596.41598.

I can't say how the default palette came about. You can customize and add your own palette(s) however, here's how: Customizing Palettes

Typically, default palettes are a superset of the historical 16 EGA colors.

Depends on what the application is intended for.

If you want pure green, just click More>> and type in 0,255,0 for the R,G,B values.

The palette in Paint.NET isn't something that's stored in the image, and doesn't limit the colors you can use at any given time. It's basically just a list of shortcuts. All 16.7 million colors are always available.
