How to apply grid lines over layers for alignment purposes

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I want to have grid lines overlay my project for alignment purposes, so that when I rotate I may get it very straight Horizontally or Vertically.

I have tried this to no avail.

Thanks again.

Ok try this when rotating. Start to rotate and hold shift. It should jump *15 degrees at a time in your selected direction. This should help it stay straight.

If you still need a grid, google one and post it on a new top layer. Then change its blend mode to additive or delete the white part.

Alternatively, you could just use the Grid/Checkerboard Plugin. If you so choose to, make sure your secondary color is set to transparent (click on "More", slide the alpha to zero). And follow the above tip to help you with alignment. Also, the Rotate/Zoom tool would be a huge help, the Align Object Plugin helps, and there's also the Oblique Plugin.

Officially retired from this forum. Have a nice day.

Benji2:

That is a great idea and it worked.

Storm.Shadow:

I like the checkerboard thing more.

But...

I downloaded the MadJik All plugins at viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21592

Could not get it to work. And yes I unzipped it into the PDN effects folder.

And yes I had PDN off and started it only after the zip was installed

..

So I kept looking and found this

viewtopic.php?f=31&t=29595&p=258006&hilit=Grid%2FCheckerboard+Plugin#p258006

Couldn't figure it out either.

I kept on and found this

viewtopic.php?t=2302

Went back to MadJik's page and downloaded the checkerboard maker individually

This got me working. for real

Thanks to both of you for the help.

BTW this is a snapshot of an emblem from the trunk of a car. (notice the fragments where I tried to clean background trunk up).

@MRGcav Please read the rules sometime :)

Especially this:

11) Don't reply to very old threads. Also known as "reviving" or "resuscitating" old/dead threads. Also called "necroposting" (eww). If there has been no discussion in a thread for, say, 3 months ... then it is dead. Do not reply to it -- pretend like it is locked. If you reply to it, then the thread will be immediately locked and your post may be deleted. Please just create a new thread if you have something to say about that subject.

Moderator,

Those who forget history are bound to repeat it.

You may not like old posts but they are very useful.

I do not intentional violate rules but like most men that book is the first thing we ignore.

3 months is not old.

necroposting ???   Now you (or somebody)are making up words.

Now instead you could of been helpful and answered my question or pointed me to where I could find it.

I searched for two days and found the answer myself.
