  1. It's been a long time, and I've sort of been swept up by life, but I definitely have happy news. Yesterday I found out I've been accepted to Rhode Island School of Design, one of the best design schools in the US. They gave me a pretty large sum of money as well. Frankly, I don't think I'd have come nearly this far if it weren't for Paint.NET and its community of awesome people and resources. Thanks, guys
  2. Happy birthday Crimson! :)

  3. What you are looking for is the Alpha Mask Import plugin, I believe. It's relatively inflexible by design (it doesn't actually become a channel, it just applies a one-time effect to look like one) but should function exactly how you want it. Edit: not fast enough, it seems.
  4. You're going to the wrong Asian country—you should see a major mainland Chinese city on any given day. Yikes.
  5. You do nothing in your post but compare it to Photoshop.
  6. Image -> Canvas Size is what you are looking for. Simply set your canvas width and height to you preferred pixel ratio (1920x1080 or 1280x720, I'm guessing.)
  7. I've passed a couple of those (they seem to appear much more frequently the closer you get to Mountain View, CA) but I couldn't take a photo of any of them. The ones I've encountered were a little more subtle though, with just the red ball on top and none of this vinyl car decal nonsense.
  8. After four months on and off, my site is finally done! It's basically a portfolio of things I've done so far. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Genulum - A Digital Portfolio EDIT: it seems that I've forgotten how to use PHPBB board tags.
  9. Could you please explain what "fullbright" means? Maybe it's just me but I have absolutely no idea what that is, nor does Google reveal anything relevant.
  10. ...which HTC? There were 5 announced at launch. I just bought into Android about two months ago, so unfortunately I will have to skip the advent of this pretty awesome OS. Although I kind of prefer Android's sheer customizability to WP7's smoothness. I wish I could actually find good games, though.
  11. Honestly, I think people should just ignore them. They're just a bunch of trolls that enjoy ticking off others. If no one paid attention to them they would just fade into obscurity.
  12. Or, if you're more of a hex color whiz, you can try What's the Hex? I usually get it on the second try or so on 10 choices.
  13. A superb repast mounds of bacon and waffles there is no syrup
  14. Nice layout and texture--however, I believe the greenish text is way too dark. Also, the top area is rather empty-feeling; there's a little TOO much white space.
  15. Unfortunately, my CSS will never pass without major reworking. Apparently -webkit-gradient and -moz-linear-gradient are not considered valid. //sadface
  16. By "unscratch," do you mean remove scratches and defects in a photo? You can use the Clone Stamp tool to cover up those areas.
  17. If only all the other IE users thought the same way.
  18. I made one of my rare visits to deviantART that day and by chance looked at your wallpaper pack. I clicked it, wanting to get a closer look. I didn't really pay attention to the artist just yet, but then I saw that Kemaru had made a comment, and I thought, "huh, what are the chances of me seeing one of his comments coincidentally?" Then I looked at the artist. And I realized. Congratulations, by the way.
  19. Portal is very much indeed worth getting. The singleplayer is kind of short, but the game itself is extremely fun and challenging with a host of inserted easter eggs and darkly humorous dialogue. I bought it when it was $9; it seems to have gone back to $20 now. Maybe you'd like to get the entire Orange Box series for $29? Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life are both great FPS games.
  20. T2i, or if you're being adventurous, the 7D. Of course, something like this wouldn't hurt either.
  21. Maybe it's not up for discussion, but I find the advertisements embedded into the words (especially in the menus selections) rather obtrusive when I'm trying to click a link and then inadvertently pass my cursor over one of the ads. Other than that, it's very intuitive.
  22. Drop shadows are somewhat of an outdated design trend, and they only really work when executed EXTREMELY well. IMO I think you should leave the blu-ish halo as it is and make the last few letters a darker shade of gray to make more impact.
  23. Very much agreed. Any speculations? Particles...atoms...molecules...? Or, perhaps, the people at Google simply wish to poke fun at us and drive us insane from not knowing what the event is.
  24. I haven't seen you before, but probably because I don't venture out of the Overf--I mean, Alfr--er, Grand Theory of Everything very often. I see you've written a couple tutorials, though.
  25. There is no way to easily adhere text to a complicated contour with Paint.NET. However, if you want to curve text into a circle, you can type it out normally then run the Rectangular to Polar effect. Look in the tutorial section to find out how to use that.
