  1. Well, let's see. Start by picking a president. By "asian", I'm assuming you mean "China, Japan and Korea". Now, since only China and Korea have esablished somewhat-republic governments, choose a president from one of those countries: Korea and China. Next, find a font that you would like to use. Dafont has a nice selection of "oriental"-looking (or so they say) fonts. If you start with these and choose a few, then go from there, we can help you further.
  2. This tutorial is, albeit a longer process, very useful as a workaround.
  3. It is possible that you are duplicating the current layer instead of adding a new one. To add a new layer: [*:1456j3n6]Press Ctrl + Shift + N [*:1456j3n6]Go to Layers > Add New Layer [*:1456j3n6]Press the :AddNewLayer: button in the Layers window (you might be pressing the :DuplicateLayer: button which duplicates the layer instead of adding a new one) Hope this has helped. Edited for clarity.
  4. No, but you can use the Custom Brushes plugin and download a soft brush to simulate the effect (although your results may be less smooth than the Photoshop variant).
  5. The Ink Sketch :InkSketch: and Oil Painting :OilPainting: effects ( Effects > Artistic ) will give you nice results.
  6. Lifehacker just covered Paint.NET's v3.5 release as a major article.
  7. Many plugin developers release their source code for their plugins; if you spent a little time learning the programming language, you could tweak the ones that are open-source and put them into different subcategories yourself.
  8. Try applying this tutorial and see if it fits your needs.
  9. Are you trying to make this personal? I wanted to point out that you were using stock photos/references, not attack you as a person.
  10. Then say you used an outline, don't say you made it 100% PDN.
  11. Check your PM. Verd- (verdant, verdure, verdurous) is intentionally misspelled.
  12. At least have the decency to hide your stock photo. My entry.
  13. This tutorial, while rather cumbersome, replicates the Burn and Dodge tools quite nicely.
  14. Also, make use of the Drop Shadow plugin (search is your friend).
  15. You'll want to duplicate the layer, run Gradient Map (search is your friend) on the new one, and put the colors you want to tint the photo with on the slider (colors towards the left will affect darker colors, colors towards the right will affect lighter images.) Don't worry if the image doesn't have much contrast at this point. After playing with colors, choose a blend mode (press F4) for the gradient-mapped layer. I suggest looking at Overlay, but you can use whatever you think fits best. Also, play with the layer opacity.
  16. I'm wondering, oma, and maybe you explained in earlier posts, but what do the 5-digit numbers after each image mean?
  17. Oh, all right. If you're going to edit your post confessing that you actually did take it from somewhere, I have no quarrel any more. Have a good day. By the way, you may want to fix your sentence structure and choice of words. Edit: Also, I do have a screenshot of what nemo's first post looked like two days ago, when the last part of the sentence was not there. But hey, who's going to believe me?
  18. I don't believe this. I put evidence in front of your face here. I'm not talking about the other pieces, I'm talking about his crown. Can no one see that he just erased the top of the crown and colored it in? You know, with all the blind faith that you put in nemo, you act like he's God or something.
  19. The current sig that you are using is awesome. That is all.
  20. Again, please don't say you did something you actually didn't.
  21. I have a set that goes down to 9B...how do you manage to fill dark shadows in with 4B? And Oma, have you tried cross-hatching techniques? I bet they'd look quite good on the leaves. The flowers themselves are very nicely textured. Also, if you're looking for very fine color pencil lines, I suggest looking into the Prismacolor Verithin sets. I've used them before; when sharpened, they make razor-thin lines.
  22. Of course you would think Paint.NET is better...you've been using it for a much longer time. A 30-day trial period is not nearly enough to be acquainted with the many different tools in Photoshop. If you were to use Photoshop for as long as you have Paint.NET, your opinion might change. @jouno53: Good job on a lot of the manipulations. I do have a suggestion: in the Force Lightning image, try using something like glow on the blue lines. Also, consider tinging the surrounding environment with the color of the lightning (this, by the way, goes for all things that emit light, like a lightsaber). This adds a touch of realism since the lightning is giving off light of its own.
  23. Try putting the "bumpy" image on a new layer above the other one, and play with the layer blend modes (I suggest trying Overlay, but other modes may yield better results.)
  24. I envy you and your free time.
