  1. I love the X-mas card and the stars look really good (I am curious to see their evolution into a X-mas image) Just love pinwheels no. 3 and my top favourite, no. 6: Just gorgeous! Duplicate pinwheel layer, rotate/zoom with tiling. That is the simple answer. I think I also had a duplicated layer of the rotate/zoom with tiling layer that I used polar inversion on and I duplicated the pinwheel and had several different sizes. Also I had a layer that was fragment and then splinter for background and it added color. I think I did a scribble over a gradient layer to get the image to splinter with multi colors. Also I often put a top layer on and set it to difference and then use the gradient tool because I can change the color as often as I like as well as the mode with the gradient tool and see what I get the best dimension with. Hope that helped, if I were reading this I would be saying to myself, "What?". What? Ciao
  2. @ApathY That looks cool, just the signature needs some blur/feathering @Oma and @PeterPawn Many thanks for your kind comments they helped me to give a bit of relief to this acute attack of migraine I am presently suffering from and thanks Oma gonna see where your tips will lead me to ! and @ABP Agree with Oma very good as a start, I add my welcome too and a tip: go ahead with that same image playing with the Curves+ advanced Ciao
  3. Subject to improvements (cropping and resizing, may be?) Ciao
  4. @LFC4EVER That's cute , but please add the link to the tut also Ciao
  5. @jiZer Like your piece, it looks like ocean's waves, call it the darkness of the ocean @hyrule Like the green ball, I would add some blur to the exagonal grid texture though to blend it a bit @zzz92 l love the colors @ Oma Like your Swarovski piece (though being a huge fan of colors I could sing Where have all the colors gone? ) I call this one In Concert: Edit: And this is In Concert no 2 (added a stock from the "Eye" screen) Happy Halloween, Ciao
  6. @ Jizer Here are some tuts which could be useful http://cmdsketchpad.com/tutorial.php?tutid=2 viewtopic.php?f=37&t=27322&p=225088&hilit=alpha+mask%2C+how+to+make+an+alpha+mask%2C+alpha+masking#p225088 viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2766 @LFC4EVER Love the texture of the planet! Happy Halloween, Ciao
  7. @jiZer: If it is steel you should add more steel/silver like color and use the alpha mask plug in to get rid of jagged edges, the signature and the central horizontal dark shadow look good though @Boude: Thanks and thanks for feedback! I really appreciate, though the noise was the thing I liked best cause it gave it that look of x-mas cards you can buy at the drugstore (I worked a lot with the in's and out's of curves+ to add it) but I suppose when I resized the image (initially it was an oval shape then I realized a sphere looked much better) that noise got too blurred and big. Ciao
  8. @ Boude: While I agree that teeth needed more depth, I do not on the use of shape 3d, cause it gave sphericity to the mouth/throath, should I have lot of time (and a lot of abilitiy...) I might have used 3d in different steps ,one for the mouth and others to give depth to each single tooth (that would have meant lot of time consuming in tries to give the right shape and depth, then resizing and pasting back ). But I am glad it scared you, that was what it was meant for This year for the first time I am making my own X-mas cards, I usually do not use soft colors, but think they suited in this case , the spheric shape is much better, but think going to get rid of the frame ciao!
  9. As far as Aeonix told me he is not doing the LAOTW contest anymore, could someone else carry on with it or else could a moderator close the topic? Thanks! Editing post: I see there were many views but no volunteers to carry on the LAOTW contest, the only result I got so far seems to be a rush in to vote, but the fact is that if no one is going to host the contest, that poll is going to stay there for ever (should change the name into Large Art of The Century ) without any winner. So I suppose I can say that this contest has come to an early death :?: (R.I.P.) As for my entry I am pretty glad of the votes I've received so far (thanks!) and I call myself out of this contest , the only thing I still do not understand yet is why Aeonix did not inform all of us of the decision he made about not doing the contest anymore and waited for my p.m. to say so :?: Ciao
  10. @becauseiwantedto: I like your arteries ,well not your actual ones, you know what I mean and also the compass picture which I agree with Boude fits more in the realistic section and yes follow Boude's advice about alpha-masking or use more the feather plug-in. @Goonfella:Not bad, but don't be afraid to use more colors/lights/blur/shadows and effects! Ciao!
  11. I agree with Ash and they look perfect, I cannot see any flaw! But you know I love your art (the hedgehog....unforgettable and many many others ) For my image no stock, made from scratch (you'd never guess how much evil can hide under an apparently innocent plug-in like kaleidoscope, plus a shape 3 d, plus layers blending mode, plus many curves + color adjustements, plus tilting and rotating with the rotate/zoom tool... ) Ciao
  12. @Boude: Yes I know what you mean, I overdid with that fading glow which was intended to add a simulation of depth, they should add a special plug-in named brakes just for me I like the texture and the gold/bronze color you gave to your rings but shouldn't the electrified linking heart be better in blue/violet? @worldnewser: Thanks! But please put the light on that (got the sight of a mole and had to glue my eyeballs to the screen to see something) so you will forgive me this little joke:  @welshblue: Lovely, my fav is the top one on the left and the pillow looks really pretty! Ciao,
  13. My vote (once again.. ) goes to LFC4EVER, my idea was funny, but the realization sucks.. but I posted a much better version in the photo-manipulation section Bibi
  14. Did not like the version I submitted for the Photo Manipulation contest, should I have more time I would have made it like this: Do not know if any remembers this : http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/archives/wolfie.jpg So, from the union of 2 Socks of Dances With Wolves and 2 holed socks Wolf- o -vitz, this abnormality was born: Furter steps on... looks much better now I think , but the photo of Wolfovitz I choosed was really bad. Stocks: the wolf: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/784774 plus the photo of Wolfovitz from "The Guardian" above, Ciao
  15. Did not want to leave Acejase all alone here, but I actually saw this contest only late this morning, so you will forgive the many flaws Do not know if any remembers this : http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/archives/wolfie.jpg So, from the union of 2 socks of Dances With Wolves and 2 holed socks Wolf- o -vitz, this abnormality was born: Stocks: the wolf: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/784774 plus the photo of Wolfovitz from "The Guardian" above, Bibi
  16. @KonArtist: Like that pencil, I am waiting to see it completed! I did try some Photoshop's tut but I get stucked sometimes cause I never know which paint.net tool corresponds to the PS ones :? I made some steps further on this: Comments/feedbacks? Ciao,
  17. Crimson, well, nevertheless I like it! A little something I had fun with: Bibi,
  18. A lot of very fine pictures, here. Love your artistic touch cjmcguinness, and Oma yes I am amongst the shiny fans and that is gorgeous and i.m.o. should deserve a place in the Galleria. Welshblue: I like the kiss of the Dragon! JanettSue : From the Impressionism (your photo-manipulation) to the Cubism period , it is lovely both for the colors and for the 3d look. How did you make those cubic shapes? Ciao,
  19. What impressed me more, besides your well-known amazing drawing skills, is that you are getting faster and faster in making images. I mean I see they are lots of layers overthere but I suppose you completed that in no more than a couple of days :?: I will not be that surprised then if one day looking around between the shelves of a book-shop I will pick up a book with the front-cover saying Illustrations by Oma Grandmother. Now, if you don't bite me ( ) I would love to have some tips on how you worked i.e. on a single petal, ok you've started drawing the outline then added shades, color and textures, how many layers for a single petal? and how did you proceed? Think that will be precious to learn, Thanks, Ciao
  20. Yes, where's the poll? I wanna vote for myself!
  21. @JanettSue: That has got a sort of Impressionist painters look, really good method to transform a photo into a painting! And no, that is not a stogy @Andy-Sandy: Not bad for a first post but I think it better suits the Signatures, Avatars and Text section, it also needs some feathering and You might find useful also to get a look at this tut, viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4841 Ciao,
  22. With the previous version (the one before 5.1.1) the plug-in flickered a bit upon starting but then worked quite all right, since I downloaded the 5.1.1 whenever I try to use it, the brushes start flickering very fast and then pdn crash... ? Any suggestion? This text file was created because Paint.NET crashed. Please e-mail this file to crashlog@getpaint.net so we can diagnose and fix the problem.
