  1. March update. Three new plugins added: Fill from Clipboard OpenRaster Filetype DragFrom OpenRaster plugin is a filetype and has been added to the filetype list. New entries appear between horisontal lines in the Index, and are prefaced with the notation *New* In the pdf, new entries appear on a green background.
  2. You're very welcome. Have a great time on the forum.
  3. The value of the hue action slider is very delicate. Try this: Hue action: SET Value: -2 Saturation adjustment: 177
  4. It sounds like your hard drive is failing or corrupted. If you cannot run chkdsk then you require serious assistance. This forum is not a Windows technical support forum. You will need to seek advice from another source to solve this problem.
  5. Conditional Hue/Saturation Effect Once installed, you'll find this effect under the Adjustments menu. For more on installing plugins: Click here, or http://www.boltbait....lingEffects.asp At first look, this is an intimidating dialog, but don't be put off, it is a very powerful plugin. Select the range of colors to be changed by altering the Hue Range sliders directly under the color wheel (use the Show Conditions button if the colorwheel doesn't show up when the dialog opens). I got all the blue areas in your first photo covered by the range 130 to 212. Set the new color by changing the Hue Action slider. Make sure that Add or Set are checked. If you want to frighten the wife, choose Fade Vertical To alter the energy or power of the new color, alter the Saturation Adjustment slider: to the left = smaller values = more washed out, to the right = larger values = more intense colors. This image has range 130 to 212, Hue Action of -81 and Add, Saturation Adjustment of 107. Another color scheme...
  6. First image: The effect Effects > Distort > Bulge will mimic this effect. Write your text and then select a rectangle right around the text that just includes the top of the text. Run the effect mentioned and play with the central location & sliders. Second image: Same method as the first, but when making the selection, make sure that the surrounding selection rectangle just encapsulates the bottom of the text. Third image: Either again use the bulge effect (this time making the selection with a good sized margin around the entire piece of text), or try one of @dpy's text effects from this plugin pack:dpy's Pack
  7. After editing you thread title, you should read this tutorial: http://forums.getpai...d-after-images/
  8. Very briefly, the magic wand is used to select a region of an image. It can be used in a number of ways, but the most common usage is with the tolerance slider +/- the shift key to select groups of pixels of a similar nature. Once selected, a group of pixels can be altered by a process, effect or filter. For example, To select all instances of a given color in an image, select the magic wand & set the tolerance slider to 0, then click on a pixel whilst holding down the shift key. All instances of the same color in the image will be selected. To select pixels within a given range and neighboring each other, adjust the tolerance slider to maybe 10% and select a pixel. To select pixels within a given range across the entire image do the above + shift key.
  9. Unusual results. I'd be thinking that the quality slider on the JPG was not set at 100%.
  10. Some filetypes are naturally larger than others. Try saving the image in each different format that DemandStudios allow (use Save As...,).
  11. Hi Idnir, Welcome to the forum. I'm going to suggest you try using the custom search page. Follow this link http://searchpaint.net/ and then type in 'wood'. Three tutorials are listed in the top few entries. BTW: it might be worth bookmarking the SEARCH site.
  12. Hi Nawf Said, welcome to the forum. You'll find many entries if you perform a search: http://searchpaint.net/ + animated gif Always use SEARCH before posting (it saves you so much effort in the long run).
  13. Paint.NET works with the RGBA format to hold pixel information. Often there is no exact correlation between RGBA and CMYK, so I doubt your suggestion is going to get much traction. Before you post suggestions such as this, I recommend reading through the Popular Feature Requests. CMYK is specifically mentioned.
  14. This may help: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/21051-watermark/
  15. It is posted in the Newbie Playground and shows a technique that is well thought out & well described. The screenshots are appropriate, correctly sized and the external tutorials and plugins mentioned all have links. Ticks all the essential boxes for me.
  16. This plugin will fill a shape with a texture, but not warp that texture to the shape: Photo Flood Fill
  17. SSSSSssssshhhhhhh! Don't shout! It's a secret..., It's not the first time the idea has been played with. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that if you want a raytraced image you should use a raytracer This is the scene I've been using as a demo to build the raytracer. Note that this is NOT a plugin at this stage, just simple raytracer that might one day grow into something else.
  18. It's not an absolute but it is very likely that PNG's will work better that JPGs. PNG's support transparency, JPG's do not. For a graphic that you want to have overlaying another, it is pretty much essential to have transparency support (unless its a strict box shape). PNG's are not supported by older browsers (like IE6), but then IE6 should DIE DIE DIE! (so this shouldn't bother you much). JPG's do not work well on line drawings, lettering or simple graphics (sound like web graphics to you?). This is because the image loses clarity and sharpness due to the lossy compression. JPG's work best with photographic images (the format for which the filetype was created). Try this simple exercise: 1. Take any web graphic you are using & open it with PDN. 2. Use Save As..., to alternately save it as a JPG, PNG & Optimized PNG. 3. Compare filesizes. 4. Open each image in a browser tab & flick between them. Any visual difference that is worth bothering about? My guess is that OptiPNG comes out the smallest, by far. I tried this test with a 1024 x 768 photo (Win7 sample pictures: Penguins), here are the results: JPG @ 100% 608.2kb PNG 1.7mb OptiPNG 264kb More...., JPG quality
  19. The thread title is "OpenRaster Filetype". Is that not clear enough?
