  1. welshblue your garden is wonderful a lot of great stuff for me to catch up on This is what I have been working on Snow Fairy
  2. It was fun looking through your gallery. I can see that you have made good use of the tutorials and have become very good. Your Kiosh orb is great. That was one that was hard for me. Smiles!
  3. I have been thinking about Christmas. I made stars last year and wanted to see if I still could. Also I pulled out some stuff from last year and put them together. The candy cane is something I improved on since I stuffed this sox but I never could get it just right. It will be fun to see what comes this Christmas.
  4. Thank you oma and HELEN. I like trying to get a calico look and that brocade look. Must be the quilter in me. Also I have fond memories of a brocade dress I wore to a Cadet Ball once upon a time. Very much like #6 but in sage green. Duplicate pinwheel layer, rotate/zoom with tiling. That is the simple answer. I think I also had a duplicated layer of the rotate/zoom with tiling layer that I used polar inversion on and I duplicated the pinwheel and had several different sizes. Also I had a layer that was fragment and then splinter for background and it added color. I think I did a scribble over a gradient layer to get the image to splinter with multi colors. Also I often put a top layer on and set it to difference and then use the gradient tool because I can change the color as often as I like as well as the mode with the gradient tool and see what I get the best dimension with. Hope that helped, if I were reading this I would be saying to myself, "What?". Hope you are not sorry you ask oma? The good old fragment/splinter. Sometimes I think it is pretty cool on it's own but I do use it often as an augmenting layer. Another one in the pinwheel series that I liked
  5. The ball is terrific. You have some nice work here. I too like to experiment with the hexagon plugin and I love splinter. I like to fragment and then splinter.
  6. Just wanted you to know I stopped by to admire your work. I was happy to hear of your 2g ram.
  7. Some of the most recent abstracts that I have been working on.
  8. What a beautiful gallery. It was a pleasure to see.
  9. I think you hit the nail on the head oma. She looks like Paris Hilton dressed up as Little Bo Peep for Halloween. I love the windmill too. There is a public park not far from where I live that along with the Windmill has a Japanese garden and an old fram house that was remodeled by Frank Lloyd Wright. (Looks nothing like my idea of a mid-west farm house.) I really want to get back there in the spring to take pictures. My idea of a good time.
  10. Helen the truth is I don't like her at all. I think she is scary. She needs a lot of work but thank you for being kind. This is a manipulation of some pictures I took a few weeks ago. I think I like the Windmill best.
  11. oma's favorite, polar inversion is a lot of fun.
  12. PeterPawn I don't know how I missed your post last time I posted but wanted to say I think the spheres are cool. topezia I have been a Quilter for decades an there is math involved.(something that I am not very studied at) Tiling refers to the filling in of a plane with repetitions of the same shape so that no gaps appear. The result is called a mosaic or tessallation. Something I am sure you math wizes are familiar with as well as you artist with Escher and Penrose. Penrose has to do with mirror symmetry and fivefold rotational symmetry. Sorry I'll stop now. It is just great stuff if you are into textile art. How I made the blocks. As a quilter I have been fascinated with how you can use the same shapes (much easier to sew together) and by changing the hue and so forth create and illusion. I don't quilt right now but there was a time I did all this on graph paper. What a time saver pdn would have been for me. The possibilities are endless
  13. becauseiwantedto I think it looks a little like gold braid I have been trying a little tiling on pdn. I'm finding the shading the hard part. Tumbling Blocks
  14. That first one is really wonderful. Makes me want to reach out and touch it.
  15. Jellyboots "Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your long hair". I instantly loved it. cjmcguinness always love seeing what you come up with. Fun! Nice job. LFC4EVER Looks like Mona has it going on. topezia not sure everyone would appreciate the 'Last Supper' being fooled with but the humor is great. That is one big stogy. The black cat is my favorite touch. This is a photo I took yesterday. I got so many great shots yesterday that I feel I have a bounty to work with. I have admired this old Duth Windmill for a very long time. This is part of the Fabyan Estate located in the Fox River Valley that is now over 300 acres of park. There is a Japanese Garden as well as the old farmhouse that was remodled by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1907 that I want to take photos of in the Spring. I hope you love it as much as I do. I used the oil as well as a little ink sketch and I have been trying out bricks and dents for my texture. I think it works but would be interested in your opinion. Original photo
  16. Frenzy it has a nice look to it. Dents I am guessing. Is there some SinWaves in there too? I like the frame also.
  17. topezia I think it is great I love the stones and the colors are so bright and wonderful. Everything in it is charming. You are getting better all the time. The news paper is super.
  18. I have been working on my avatar trying to make her better. She has taken up to much of my time
  19. BB Wow! BB I think if you keep practicing with the pencil you will be very good. Good job. Oma maybe your wings would look good on my Alice. I would have to chage the color. Pretty I took her out and worked on her some more. Maybe one day I will be able to make her just how I would like her. Practice, practice. I made the butterflies a long time ago but still like them. I used 3D to make them fly.
  20. Welcome to the forum adamba, nice effect Surreality cool city I like the second one St Jim I like the tree against the sky but I think to me the small image works better than the large. The tree seems to glow in the small image. TRUSTcompany I think I would like that better with more colors in it. You all sure keep me on my toes, thank you for all the good suggestions. I'm done with the ucky spiders for now. My grandson thinks it's really cool which is good because I don't want to work on it any more right now. Maybe one day. Another grandson requested I put him on a Dragon. My next manipulation I'll be working on is one house eating another. Strange, if anyone has any inspiration or thoughts about how to do that I would love to hear it. Maybe I should just sink the one house in the pool with the spiders. I should mention those are tattoos on his arm and leg. He loves them. You should see his tummy. Mal And The Red Dragon
  21. If there is a way to do that it has never occurred to me. I don't think it is mathematical possible but I'll share with you what I do. You can crop the larger ones which means you would lose part of the picture or add a background canvas to the smaller ones to make the dimensions right. I usually choose two colors from the picture and use a gradient on the background or make a frame. This photo is an odd size but I wanted it that way to match the size of some others I was using so I add a background canvas and the names at the top. I don't know if this helps you in anyway but sometimes you just have to be creative. If there is another answer to this I would love to hear it also. example
  22. I think paint.net would be your best choice. I don't know if you have ever been using a program and needed help. It can sometimes take forever or even be impossible and often the help can seem to be give begrudgingly. Your daughter will find the people on the forum happy to help and always polite. When I first started and needed help it arrived almost instantly and still does. Often I knew my questions seemed simple and stupid but I was always given courteous and quick answers along with much encouragement. And the moderators as well as being very knowledgeable and helpful, are wonderful at making sure this stays a family friendly forum . I think all these things are important if your daughter is 14. And as has been said, it has an ease of use once you learn your way around and it is capable of doing many wounderful and fun things. I have GIMP but find it confusing compared to paint.net. Also paint.net does not take up much room on your hard drive. And (thank you Mr. you can't do better than free.
  23. There have been some really great post but PurpleP... your's is my favorite. Was that your imagination or was there a subject you worked from? I worked a long time on this one. Not quite how I want it yet but getting there. Any suggestions? Stain Glass
