  1. What are the dimensions of the PSD files and how many layers?
  2. Be sure your mouse is floating over the image (and not over a docker window or toolbar) when using hotkeys.
  3. When saving an image, be sure to select a color depth that has enough colors for the image. If you select a smaller palette size, Paint.NET runs your image through an algorithm to reduce the colors before saving. This is done to save the highest quality image for the limited palette.
  4. Paint.NET works in the RGB color space. There is not a perfect 1:1 conversion from HSV to RGB. The conversion is provided as a convenience.
  5. This is exactly why Paint.NET allows plugins. Not everyone needs that capability, but you do and you can add it easily.
  6. Render your text on it's own layer... in white... change the layer's blend mode to Xor.
  7. I prefer this one: https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/29428-floyd-steinberg-dithering-including-source/
  8. What are the dimensions of the psd file and how many layers?
  9. I don't actually think this is a good idea. All plugins work on selections. But, the plugins in the selection submenu change their behavior based on the shape of the selection.* This plugin doesn't do that. I'd put it back in the photo menu as I think it is really designed for repairing photos. *For example, outline selection draws an outline in the shape of the selection.
  10. Or, you could just turn off your tool box window and...
  11. Is this what you're looking for? https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/29428-floyd-steinberg-dithering-including-source/
  12. Show us a screenshot of the error message.
  13. Try this tool: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed
  14. If you see an image you like, ask the author to post a tutorial. That's where most of our tutorials come from.
  15. Yes. In fact, there's lots of that here: https://forums.getpaint.net/forum/18-tutorials-publishing-only/
  16. Since you have removed Paint.NET from the equation, I'm going to say the issue is either with Windows or your printer driver. Try applying all Windows updates and see if there is an updated printer driver from HP.
  17. Post the crash.log from the crash so pyro can debug the problem.
  18. When merging down, the opacity of the lower layer is maintained and the opacity of the upper layer is lost. That's why your image may look different after merging down. If you want to maintain the look of an image, be sure to flatten the image... OR ...be sure your lower layer is at full opacity when merging a layer onto it. One way to do this is to create an empty layer below the two layers you wish to merge. Then, merge your bottom layer onto the newly created empty layer. THEN merge your top layer into your newly merged layers.
  19. No. This is a forum about the digital paint program Paint.NET... not about actual physical paints. Closing.
  20. Tell us a little bit about your system... What is your OS? Looks like Windows 10 64 or 32 bit? Which version of Paint.NET are you using? How much installed memory? How big is the image you're working on? How many layers? How big is the image on the clipboard? Where did that image come from? (right-clicking on an image on the Internet, Word, Paint.NET, etc.)
  21. How about using the built-in Ink Sketch? Load your image, Effects > Artistic > Ink Sketch, slide the coloring slider all the way to the left. Follow that with Effects > Stylize > Outline, tinker with sliders until you see something you like.
  22. I'm not sure what that is, but maybe this... ? https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/29428-floyd-steinberg-dithering-including-source/
