sportflyer
I am new to paint.net and photo editing . I have several photos with great background but the subject is dark because the sun was in front when the photos were shot. I used the lasso tool to select the area around the subject and adjusted the selected area but now I need to blend the edges of the selection to the background . Is there a plugin I can use for this ? Thanks

sportflyer
Yes. Ok . I tried it out . It works fine but I need a very steady hand using the lasso tool or I will end up leaving a "halo " around the selected subject. Anyway to overcome this ? racerx
Shadow/Highlight recovery plugin is a good choice, but a better one (in my opinion) is Laplacian Pyramid filter: http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?showtopic=24563. Work with layers and blending modes to get the best possible combination of the effect.
Cc4FuzzyHuggles
I'm really bad at free-hand tools, like the lasso. If you want to edit the subject of your photo and the background separately, then you might want to cut the subject out and put it on it's own layer. Here are some ways to cut out items from pictures : This tutorial shows how to delete the background, for your picture though, instead of deleting the background you can copy and paste your subject onto a new layer. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/13796-cutting-out-images/ In this old mini tutorial I briefly example multiple ways to cut out a subject. Maybe one of the ways shown will interest you. I also give links to plugins that help smooth and/or blend the edges of the cut out object. http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/28375-can-someone-turn-these-pics-into-a-silhouette-for-me/#entry409078 Edited September 10, 2015 by Cc4FuzzyHuggles Quote *~ Cc4FuzzyHuggles Gallery ~*
