iggymoe
i'm wanting to make a black glass or for that matter any dark color glass wallpaper that i will eventually add a image into. i've treid every techinque i've seen or found on the tutorials, or forum boards. i can make orbs or round buttons pretty good, square, rectangle, or large flat wallpapers not so good. they all turn out looking like a gray area in the and not shinny, reflective, or transparent as the orbs or round buttons. any suggestions or tutorials i've missed would be greatly appreciated. Cc4FuzzyHuggles
Here are some suggestions that might give you a few techniques that could help. When you make your glass from tutorials, keep the shines on their own layers. Then when you have the glass made, try inverting the glass but keep the shines white. ( to invert a color go to the adjustments tab in the menu bar and find "invert colors" or use your keyboard ctrl + shift + i ) Another thing you could try, is instead of trying to make black glass, you could make black shiny objects. Black shiny objects would mean focusing on solid items and making them shiny. The solid items should be able to be any color, that includes black. This is a very cool shiny object : http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/18041-draw-in-three-dimensions/And this is black and shiny, maybe you can get some ideas from it? http://forums.getpaint.net/index.php?/topic/27204-make-a-smartphone-basics/ Here is a picture I found online, perhaps taking what you are learning from the button and orb tutorials, plus add in observing pre-made images, you can mix things up to get the look you want? http://thumb9.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/167461/167461,1210611778,2/stock-vector-black-glass-buttons-12504337.jpg (note: I don't recommend finding pre-made images and using those instead of doing the work yourself, because unless you are careful with images from the internet, you could run into copyright laws) Edited September 7, 2014 by Cc4FuzzyHuggles Quote *~ Cc4FuzzyHuggles Gallery ~*

TechnoRobbo
Since Glass is a combination of reflection and refraction you may have to work backwards from your target vision to get to a starting point. Do you have an example of what your aiming for? I have a few of plugins that simulate a glass effect. TR's Intensity Warp TR's Glass Vignette TR's Displacement Map Quote Go out there and be amazing. TR's Intensity Warp TR's Glass Vignette TR's Displacement Map those look like some fine plugins, have to try them. here is something close to what i would like to do, except maybe a little shine in the field and reflection. TechnoRobbo
Helen's the queen of shiny etheral images but I will give it a shot. For globes I use my FishEye Plugin The reflection patterns can be played with by adding more layers with Screen, Glow and lighten mode. There are really no rules on the reflection gradients Quote Go out there and be amazing.
