RaymondP
I have selected a brown color. My background is babyblue. I have the background layer deselected and it still shows up as nothing. it has to be something really stupid I am doing.
Sarkut
In the Layers window click on the top layer. Now make a new (transparent) layer. Press the key Esc on on your keyboard. Activate the Text tool, and try it.
RaymondP
It just started working, not sure why, thanks for the support!!
BoltBait
The problem is usually that you had an active selection and you were trying to type text outside of that selection. Pressing the Esc key before using the text tool will solve that problem. Stone85
Yeah, you had something selected, that happened to me before too. Another way to deselect is to hold CTRL and hit D. Quote My Gallery | My Sig Tutorial

Heat Stroke
when i choose the size of my font, i click in the text size box (not the arrow) and scroll to the size i want. sometimes though i forget to click on the canvas before typing, and so it types my text in the size box and not on the canvas. that could also be your problem.
