My text keeps going outside of the image border

I am making a picture and it involved text. The text is not small and not long but keeps going off the page and out of center. Can someone tell me how to make it stay in the image?

No that doesnt work, I tried that. The words just go all to the right and off the image. How do I make it all stay in one image?

Do you mean that you want the words to form vertically?

Another edit: I want them like the way a book would have them: You would read left to right and up to down.

Yes. You have to stop before it goes too far, and press Enter to drop to the next line.

Or prep it in a word-processor and copy it into Paint.NET as an image.

I did prep it in notepad.. but stop and entering does not work for some reason. Copying it in as an image would be way to much work.

As a work-around you can type until you have as much text as you want on a line,

then switch to a different tool momentarily before restarting the Text tool one line space down.

It is a good practice to always make a new (transparent) layer to put your text on,

rather than adding it directly to the white background layer.

It makes it easier to adjust the text later, should you need to.

This has nothing to do with your current difficulty, however.

You have to put in your own line breaks. Paint.NET doesn't auto-wrap.

Well darn, this is going to take forever.

Sarkut has given you great advice.

On a new layer type your text.

Rather than having one long line, break it up.

So type some of the words.

Press Ctrl + D to deselect the words.

Then go to Effects - Align Object plugin & choose the alignment you want.

Create a new layer & type some more text, repeat the deselect.

You can then use the rectangle select (not magic wand) to move the text down beneath the previous text or use the Align Object plugin to align the text.

Keep doing this, each time on a new layer so you can move the text without problems.

As for taking forever, it would take about 5 minutes max, depending on how much text you want to do. In fact it has probably taken longer for me to type a response to you than to do the text you want.

Sorry man ... I won't be delaying Paint.NET v4 simply because a few people won't upgrade past XP.

Will those of us with XP be discouraged from downloading v4, then? Or will we just find our copy of PDN stops working? One of our computers is on XP, is all, and it'd be a nuisance to make use of that free copy of GIMP I got with a magazine.

Older version of Paint.NET will continue working. PdN 4 will not work on XP. <IIRC

GIMP is free regardless!
