Looking for a Skew-like Feature

Recommended Posts

I'll try to explain this as best I can:

I'm trying to stretch an image so that the bottom part of it is stretched but the top part is not. I'll add some pictures to help explain what I mean.

This is an image of what I want to edit. What I want to do is to drag the two white images down a bit so they match up with the lower lines. However, when I select them and use the boxes to stretch it, the bottom does indeed go where I want it to go but the top shortens as well (as seen here). When I try to stretch it back into the proper place, the top lines don't fit anymore (see here). I'm looking for some way that will allow me to stretch the bottom without stretching the top as well.

A little help would be greatly appreciated. :)

The images shown actually are two images on two different layers. The bottom one is the blue UV map and cannot be altered in any way because it's what I need to match (the template if you will). I have to be able to alter the top image (the opaque white image).

I don't think that's what the original poster wants to do, though the title is misleading.

The best I can say is select just the bottom, and stretch that out by itself - then go back and reconnect the lines using a paintbrush.

I've actually installed both of those plugins and I'm not sure how to get them to do what I'm wanting them to. Oblique seems to twist the image instead of merely stretching it and I don't know how to work the Octogonal Reshape plugin. I've used the magic wand to select only the two items I want stretched and then select the OR plugin and choose Reshape with 4 Control Points but after that I have no idea how anything works.

Well, to use the Oblique plugin, after you've made your selection, move the Offset (you have to change this for anything to happen) and Step Factor controls around and watch what happens.

That's what I meant by 'Oblique seems to twist the image instead of merely stretching it'. The first Offset slider slants the image to the left or right while the second one slants it up and down. I need the selected images to firmly retain their shape while stretching only the bottom. I just need to extend the bottom, not twist anything.

ETA: I think I may have found a workaround, though, but if anyone can think of an easier way for me to accomplish this in the future, I'd be grateful.

For anyone interested in my workaround, I cut the white images, opened a new file, turned to full opacity, added a new layer, pasted white images, rectangle-selected the bottoms and stretched them that way. I then used magic wand to reselect the two images and pasted them onto the blue UV map. Seems to have worked like I wanted it to.

Seen this? Perspective Effect (Beta)

It does this: Trapezoid transform of your image by adjusting the height &/or width of the sides.
