boudewijn
Fixed version is available here https://bitbucket.org/silenceforest/paint.net-raw-file-plugin/downloads/RAWFile.zip You should copy RAWFile.dll into the folder \Paint.NET\FileTypes\ and place dcraw.exe to \Paint.NET Source: https://bitbucket.org/silenceforest/paint.net-raw-file-plugin/src Not workiing either, I have a canon 50D as well as a 60D. cr2 files from either one do not open... Ego Eram Reputo
The RAW file format has as many variations as there are camera makers, so not all RAW files are created equal. This is why there are several RAW plugins available. Try the other ones. ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker
extide
dcraw.exe should support Canon 50D, 60D, and many other new file types. It looks like this plugin has not been updated in several years. As new cameras come out this plugin will need to be updated to include the new version of dcraw.exe which will then include support for the new files. It appears the source code is included so I will go ahead and try to get a new version of this dll built using the latest dcraw.exe. This should solve pretty much all problems previously reported in this thread. I don't have Visual Studio installed on my work laptop but I do at home. I will see if I can slap this together for you guys when I get home today.
buffumjr
I'm a newbie to processing. 18 August 2009, Axle said, "what are .raw files for???" The only things I have read that RAW is good for are changing white balance and black levels. I'm sure there are a ton more. I'm eagerly following this conversation to see about the RAW files reader plug-in. Once the plug-in brings the file in, what, besides those two, can Paint.NET do with the file that is not available in processing, say, a JPG? As I said, I'm a newbie to processing. Ego Eram Reputo
RAW files are data rich files from digital cameras. Unfortunately different camera manufacturers implement the format in different ways so there is no standard. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_image_format Once a RAW file has been imported, it can be manipulated just like any other image. ebook: Mastering Paint.NET | resources: Plugin Index | Stereogram Tut | proud supporter of Codelab plugins: EER's Plugin Pack | Planetoid | StickMan | WhichSymbol+ | Dr Scott's Markup Renderer | CSV Filetype | dwarf horde plugins: Plugin Browser | ShapeMaker

Jonas Grumby
I just wanted to throw it out there that DNG is an attempt to create a universal file format for raw files. If you are having trouble opening the raw files from any camera, see if your editing software supports DNG format. Adobe DNG Converter is free. Also, a raw file allows you to do baseline editing, so you can control things like the color temperature, white level, black level, fill, recovery, color saturation, and lots of other options that you don't get when you open a JPG or other file types. I just downloaded paint.net and am beginning the search for the best raw file plugin.
Jonas Grumby
p.s. RAW files are also uncompressed and you don't sacrifice image quality when you manipulate the image. It is not a compression scheme.

Ego Eram Reputo
This plugin is for reading RAW files. Thank you so much (4-/12 yrs after your post!). Files are Olympus ORF from an OMD EM10-II. I prefer to use an old XP machine for working on my photos (v. clean, fast, maxed out RAM), and so I'm running V3.5.11 and avoiding the update offers! Thanks again.
